FAWC 5: Line, Please!

It is deliciously JBJ, though. He declares he's writing an "in your face" story. Folks say, yep that was an "in your face" story and even say a few nice things about it. And then he explodes defensively.

At least he got to see three real (and honest and balanced) examples of what a story critique is (and that he begged to get) rather than what he says he does as a critique (and some folks here salivate to receive from him).

Geez, Pilot! No one was salivating for a critique from JBJ. Speaking for myself, I was enjoying his comments and I liked what he had to say about the books he was reading and I thought it would be fun if he participated. End of story. I don't think anyone was expecting any great critique from him. Let it go.

Can we just get this thread back the FAWCking?

Sure they did--in the FAWC 4 thread. Treated him like they couldn't wait for the self-anointed judge to weigh in.

And "we" already posted back to the thread topic--a couple of times. If you want to, go right ahead.

I've been reading through the four entries so far. I like the variety in them. They range across different eras and genres. When I came up with the line for this FAWC, I wondered if it would supply enough information (or inspiration) for a nice diversity. I think it's safe to say that it did.

I'm a little FAWCed up right now. I had something brewing in my head for a while, and put some to paper (electronic), but last night I realized that it isn't a story. It's...I don't really know what it is. It's stuff that a story could be written around, I reckon, but fairly pointless without the story to go with it. :(

There's still a couple of weeks left. Something might jump out at you.

I've often had the same thing happen, only to come back to it weeks or months later and finish the story . . . often in a completely different way than I originally intended.

I'm FAWCed up too. I have two ideas but limited time, and then when I do have time, or can make it, I'm just too mentally fried to focus.

However. :) There is still time and I'm hoping things calm down after today. Today is very busy with the PennKids but it eases up... and then school will soon be out and I'll have even less time... but then in the fall, they both go to school for a full day!

I'm a last minute kind of girl, so I'm still at the beginning stages of my story. I'm excited to get it down, though. I'm also writing a Nude Day story, which is completely different from my FAWC story, so it's interesting changing between the two. I'm glad to hear there are four stories, already. I have a feeling this one will have fewer participants than the last one, but maybe we'll get to ten?

PennLady -- I'm in the same boat as you! Next year Littlet will be in first grade, so it will be her first year of being in school all day. It will be an interesting transition for the both of us! :)

Your post convinced me to skip comments and scoring FAWC 5 contestants.

My Little One's last day of school is this Friday -- also the day she's in the talent show with her magic dancing cane act -- and then it's a long summer for me until she goes back to school. I'm going to miss sleeping in and having the place to myself for the next three months . . . .

Now THAT would be a hard transition to make! I get 3 hours in the morning, currently, with Littlet in Kindergarten, but I often just nap it away. You know, cause I've been ill and all. Otherwise I would be SUPER productive between 8 and 11 am. Because I am TOTALLY a morning person. :D

Wow that is such a big summer break I am glad ours is only 5-6 weeks and we have the other breaks throughout the year at the end of each term. I get a two week winter break in July :)

Uh-huh. I believe that. :p

The summers are always an interesting transition for me and my daughter. During the school year, I get up at 6:30, wake her up and get her ready for school. Once she's on the bus, I plod back to the bedroom and lay back down for a couple of hours while my wife gets up and goes about her day.

In the summer, though, I get a whole extra hour's worth of sleep before Little One comes in and wakes me with whatever cool story, or invention, or whatever that's popped into her brain. Once that happens, I'm up for the day. If I'm lucky, she'll get tuckered out playing with her friends down the street and I'll get a mid-day nap. But I'm rarely that lucky.

The US school system gives a long summer break and a short (about two weeks) winter one. Usually, during the winter, we go back to Ohio, where my wife is from, so that Little One can visit her grandmother and cousins. It's not much of a break for me, though, since I usually get stuck playing babysitter for all the kids while everyone else goes out.

Ah, well . . . my wife makes it up to me

OK! My 2nd non-FAWC5 story is done and almost ready for submission to Laurel. I used SLICKS theme, too. I think there's time for #3, maybe #4.

I am so busy atm I have barely started one, plus the State of Origin series starts tonight (The one football event event i watch avidly every year) so even less time for writing. because i have tickets to a corporate box tonight. :D

Good luck to everyone else :)

I went thru graduate school full time, with 2 full time jobs, plus a wife and 4 kids. Its impossible to be too busy.

And we have another submission that arrived in my email overnight. That makes five thus far and I have a feeling there will be about four or so more.

Youre just biased for in your ass stories.
