It looks so sad.
It looks like its shaving its teeth

I don't have a problem making friends/acquaintances in RL. In fact, my real problem is that I meet often randomly people who are interesting to me at that moment, and these people then want out hang out/do stuff all the time. But I'm social in spurts. I need my time away from people ("people" being non-cat, non-Manu humans). A couple weeks back, I had over a week of nonstop peopling which really wore me out. Manu is energized by people and conversation; for me, for whatever reason, prolonged human contact drains on my batteries.

My issue is dealing with people here as Laurel. People see the admin as someone they need to be nice to, so oftentimes I'll think we're connecting when we're not. And then there are those weird few who want an admin friendship for bragging rights for whatever reason, something to broadcast or use but they have zero interest in me - just Laurel.

It's not something that's wrong with this place, but with my role in it, which will never change. So from now on I will be wary. That's all.
yes. all of that.

as to the rest, it happens. only time shows who're genuine and who're pillocks with an agenda. opening up will always involve risks, so be wary but don't allow the risks to close you in. :rose:

These are the days that try a man's soul... sweat pants this morning, switched to shorts because my legs got hot, now my legs are cold. When I turn my space heater on I get hot, so I crack the window, then I get cold.

And I got a phone call at 8:30 in the morning! Nobody should use the phone before noon.

It's been an interesting week. Colonoscopy/endoscopy last Friday, an apparent failed break-in attempt early yesterday (they broke the doorknob, but the deadbolts held), and one of the spare kids got a call from the evil psycho ex from hell. It's been very not-boring.

ah, for a moment i thought you were referring to the colonoscopy

sorry to hear about the dramatics, mr rug, but i hope all went as easily as can be hoped for with the 'scopes. :rose:

The scopes themselves were no problem, I was out for that part. The prep was uncomfortable, and let's leave it at that. Probably won't get the results for a couple weeks. I just hope they find what's making my digestion wonky and making me unable to taste salt properly.

my father absolutely refused to do the prep for his colonoscopy. in fact, he threw a fucking tantrum after only a few hours. not that i don't understand. i saw the jugs. dear god, the jugs!

It's funny you say this, because my original plan/dream was just that. Even had the place all settled. But somehow ended up somewhere in the big city. You can find peace and isolation there too, which I didn't realize before - at least, enough of it. I'm awful spoiled by the conveniences of big cities - food choices, stuff to do. But it's still too easy for people to find you. And there's no natural things, just landscaping. I get so nature-craving even landscaping feels good. :D

Someday I'll get sick of it and retreat into the woods.

An occasional respite to the cabin in the woods is nice to get the batteries charged. If you're adventurous, a trip in the Colorado R through the canyon would do it. There's only sat-phone service, there. And, your guides will be sure you're safe and fed. You just need to pack enough reading material, a camelback for carrying water and a good pair of hiking shoes.

Mine was relatively easy, due to the aforementioned wonky digestion. Not much really left to do. The not eating part of it was a pain, though. I've already lost 20 lbs to this unpleasantness.

Oh man, the prep is hellish. My second favorite colonoscopy memory is when they stuck that hose up my butt and turned my colon into the world's longest clown balloon. I was wishing for death or heavy sedation at that point.

I hope your results come back all clean, so to speak. :rose:

:( :rose:

What do they think may be the issue?

It is VERY IMPORTANT that folks understand that the prep has gotten much, much easier than it used to be.

Yes, there is fasting and, yes, there is the clean out process— but there is no more "chalk" to drink. The laxative is now all but tasteless.

The entire process, from start to finish, can now be done in as little as 24 hours.

Whatever the brief discomfort, it beats hell out of dying from colon cancer.

The last theory was a reaction to meds, but it hasn't completely gone away even though I stopped those meds three weeks ago.

That happened to my cat! Fill-in vet gave him a pain med which caused his kidneys to go wonky. Scared the crap out of everybody, had us all thinking his kidneys had failed, but everything stabilized once they figured out what they were doing wrong and took him off the medicine. It did take a little bit for him to recover though.

Hopefully you're like my cat - in that way.

Hey, does anyone know where we're supposed to post if we don't think armpits are sexy?
