Good way to treat prisonors

It's not a good way to treat anybody but if that's how it's gotta be go for it. There are more important battles to fight than this.

do we treat prisoners badly because we believe it will protect society and prevent future crime, or because vengeance feels good?

is his cheap menu nutritious? because it has been proven that a nutritious diet reduces rates of crime & violence. it seems that a brain can't fully function and make good choices if it's fuelled on crap.
rations should be basic but healthy, and is that possible on so small a budget?

Mostly vengeance. If you look at our penal system and can assume it's vengeance and ignorance over anything else that's probably a safe bet.

"Sheriff" Joe hates America almost as much as you do.
Sherrif Joe likes america, he just has low regard for criminals and illegal aliens; and law enforcment who ignore the laws they are suppose to enforce.

Like Eric Holder.

Here in Oz, there are plans by one state to reduce the number of inmates by introducing tracking anklets and releasing them back home.
The idea is that tagged prisoners will have extremely limited allowance of travel, strict curfews, and as a condition of release will be required to work their entire sentence at a Gov't organised job for minimum pay.
The same state wants to cut expenses further by requiring that all prisons become a smoke-free environment, reducing medical costs over the long term.

Not sure how either plan will work, but there will be trials on both beginning next year.

Sounds like a workable plan actually. I've long thought they should do something like that.
