Its only very recently i started tinkering with my photos, as i didnt think it was needed but didnt realise how much of a difference it can make. I thought it would be nice to share some before and afters so maybe amateurs like me can discover different effects or ways of doing things.

If you post, please can you post the program you use to edit them. xx

Here is a simple one i have done using picasa 3 from google. its really easy to use and you can undo any changes you make. it also saves an original and changed version as a backup.

BEFORE: I didnt like the fact you can see the houses. I wanted it more like a silhouette so i increased shadows. when i did that it went a little too dull so i increased saturation (i went a little further than i had to, as i like the popping colours)

AFTER: I am pretty pleased with this :)

thats pretty impressive. i saw the first pic and was like... surely that cant be made into anything good.

haha i was surprised and proven wrong :p

i love the sunlight and the trees one. xx

Those are nice! I need better software if I'm going to edit Raw. My adobe is too old and I can't find an upgrade for it.

I have an editing question. I have a pic that I really like, composition-wise, but it was shot on a hazy day. What kind of adjustment could I use to cut through that haze?

Not much to cut through haze after the fact.. you could try increasing contrast and see if that helps. Otherwise, convert to black & white and try a red filter.

There's no straightforward way that works for every photo. Contrast and sharpen tools may help or you might like to play around with histogram adjustments or filter effects. You might find you need to mask off part of the photo to apply the effects locally. It can be a bit hit and miss.

There's quite a good example here http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/?m=show&id=264

I got this picture from bing, and just wanted to screw around with it. I used powerpoint.

The edit is my heart!

Fucked up, ugly, over or under exposed, what's that!? a stupid background!?, are you in a closet?
