Justice for Trayvon??

Some people are smart enough to realize StandYourGroundLaw had nothing to do with the case. Then you have the jackson types that don't.

The jury is allowed to infer Stand Your Ground if they want to. I read it somewhere.

The defendant can forfeit Stand Your Ground as a defense, because the defendant then has to make a case that he was attacked, injuries aren't enough, you need witnesses. But juries can excuse killings using SYG as the reason.

Judging from the spate of responses from the RWCJ crew, I guess that when I said "circumvent the iggy system", they immediately dropped their pants.

Sad sacks.

That apparently really pisses off the thugs.

Actually, this Florida statute is not part of the SYG statute, yet it allows deadly force:

782.02 Justifiable use of deadly force.—The use of deadly force is justifiable when a person is resisting any attempt to murder such person or to commit any felony upon him or her or upon or in any dwelling house in which such person shall be.
History.—ss. 4, 5, ch. 1637, 1868; RS 2378; ch. 4967, 1901; s. 1, ch. 4964, 1901; GS 3203; RGS 5033; CGL 7135; s. 66, ch. 74-383; s. 1, ch. 75-24; s. 45, ch. 75-298; s. 1197, ch. 97-102.

Rachel Jeantel just let the cat outta the bag; Trayvon thought Zimmerman was Gay.

O'Mara missed it. Can you imagine the nausea across Librul Land had Rachel spilled the beans on the stand?

What I read indicated the defendant has to offer good evidence of the intent to commit a felony. And as Zimmerman wasn't gonna testify, self defense was the better option.

You do know that these protests have been multiracial, right?

And that the "violence" in the very few protests that you can count on one hand with maybe three fingers has been less than the "oh that's okay, they're just boys being boys" hooliganism done at virtually every hockey game riot...cuz, you know, white?

Although the violence was much less than I expected, it was far from what you are calling it. http://rt.com/usa/california-zimmerman-protest-police-152/

ETA: I liked this comment on the site I linked.

They believe that Martin was racially profiled as a trouble making thug because he is black and these black people respond by creating trouble and behaving like thugs in protest? Maybe Martin wouldn't have been shot if there weren't so many examples, every single day, of black people behaving like thugs and criminals.

I remember getting into a confrontation with a shop owner when I was in like 8th or 9th grade, some Turkish immigrant or something. He kicked me and my friends out of his store for being obnoxious little pricks. As I was leaving I gave him the "evil hand" (the heavy metal two fingered devils horns) and yelled Hail Satan at him. He starts yelling "come back here you little f*cker, I'll break your fingers, I'll break your fingers." I did it all the more and taunted him to come after me and he keeps yelling even more. Me and my friends thought it was freaking hilarious.

Now I look back and see what a little asshole I was. In fact, in many parts of the eastern mediterrean, the "evil hand" is a seriously offensive gesture which of course I had no idea. I figured the dude was confused and thought I was giving him the bird, but I look back and he was probably knew more than I did what the "evil hand" was. I feel bad about the whole thing now, and I think he was in the right. I should have shown some respect to an adult like Trayvon should have that night.

Excuse me, that is a load of SHIT!

What the fuck would you have done at 17?

Exactly, the same fucking thing!!!

I would have thought the opposite. All the homophobes would shiver in fear of a gay man with a gun on his hip.

I would have done what TM could have very easily done. Go home; he was less than a hundred yards from there.

Zimmerman's injuries are good evidence that a felony has been committed on his person. Deadly force in Florida, as in most places, is authorized when one has reasonable expectation of great bodily harm.

I agree. I'm repeating what I read about why O'Mara didn't do SYG.
