Even if you reject "stand your ground" in this case, 20 years for a warning shot--an obvious last-ditch effort to avoid violence--looks to be way excessive.

I'd say I was curious about why her case hasn't become an NRA obsession, but anyone who caught Wayne LaPierre at the most recent NRA national convention talking like someone out of Birth of a Nation* probably already knows the answer. Fear of blacks and love of guns are intimately intertwined in American society.
