Gun sales shoot to record high for Smith & Wesson despite violent year

The devastating gun violence over the last 12 months has done nothing to dampen weapons sales at Smith & Wesson. In fact, the iconic company reports that sales have reached a record high of $588 million for the year ending April 30. Background checks, perhaps the most effective means of tracking sales, show that the week following the Sandy Hook massacre set a record for license applications, and permits in the city of Newtown doubled over the three months after the shootings. Another rise in gun sales occurred after 12 people were shot by alleged killer James Holmes at a "Dark Knight Rises" screening last July, and President Obama's re-election with the attendant fear of restrictions triggered another high in retail weapons movement.

Because our marsupial friend thinks that the more people are scared the fewer weapons they buy. It makes perfect sense when you stop to think about it.

My hands are shaking; my adrenaline is surging.

No, it’s not from the latte I just inhaled or because this is the first time in two years I’ve been in a Starbucks since declaring a boycott on its open-carry gun policy.

What’s got me jittery this morning is the 9mm Glock that’s holstered on my hip. Me, lead gun policy protester at the 2010 Starbuck’s shareholder meeting. Me, a board member of the Brady Campaign. Me, the author of a book about the impact of gun violence, Beyond the Bullet.

I'm shocked to find out that the makers of guns have realized there is a direct correlation between gun violence & their profits.

So you bring her ammo when you visit. :D

There is something to be said for bringing a gift you know someone appreciates and will use.

There's a more direct correlation between Obama and his liberals bent on violating the Second Amendment and gun sales.

More accurately there is a paranoid fear that Obama and his liberals will do something and it's great for sales.

Name one piece of legislation that Obama has sponsored that would violate the 2nd Amendment.

It would be easier to name legislation that Romney supported, and look who you voted for.

That would not be a paranoid fear, since there is a good chance it will happen.

The way to buy all the weapons and ammo you want is to go to a gun shop along the Mexican border and say you want weapons for a gang of Mexican drug dealers. Even if the store owner doesn't want to, he is under US government mandate to sell you whatever you ask for.

There is pretty much no chance that he will come for your guns. I mean I can't say zero because that would only apply to people who have absolutely no ability to do anything. But it is stupid paranoia.

LOL. I hope your second paragraph is just a joke. I'd hate to think you were really this fucking ignorant.

You should read the thread & read your cite.

That legislation would not have infringed on the 2nd Amendment.

You said you could find one easily but so far you're 0 for 1. Care to try again?

The Second Amendment says ...shall not infringe...and the defeated bill I cited would have done that.

But here is another anyhow. You may have to look at links within the link: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/12/28/president-obamas-anti-gun-agenda-shows-no-sign-stopping/

They might or might not, but there is still a chance. Is it paranoid if I warn my grandchildren about accepting candy from strangers? Probably nothing would happen, but it's best to avoid risks.

The second paragraph was a bit hyperbolic, but I hope you are aware of how the Fast and Furious operation worked.

Actually they just gave Iraq a billion dollars worth of ammo, you know, the place where he ended the war.

There is a chance that Obama is going to send the Navy Seals to your house to bring you in. I wouldn't warn my grandchildren about them though. Yes it's paranoid if you warn your grandchildren about accepting candy from strangers. Do you warn them about unnattended luggage? As we learned with Boston it might be best to avoid backpacks that nobody is wearing.

Yes, I know how Fast and Furious worked. Do you? You can legally buy guns in Arizona and legally sell them or give them to your friends. The federal government didn't change anything that wasn't already happening other than trying to find out where the weapons were going. Same as Bush did not that anybody cared then. I have to figure out why Bush was so immune to criticism. It's like for everything he did wrong he still got tons of free passes from everybody.

So? You make it sound like they have a shortage of people who need to be shot in the face.
