ask me anything.

Finally! Some meat!

In what genre do you write?

recently, I write according to whichever class I happen to be staggering through.

recreationally, and therapeutically, I write in the same vein as some of my writing heroes. Joseph Conrad (according to my last three writing professors, he has greatly influenced my sentence structure in EVERYTHING I write), John Irving, and Mark Twain (I stab at humor pieces on occasion).

What exactly is alternative country?
What metal / hard rock do you like?

alternative country:
Drive By Truckers
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
Todd Snider
Townes Van Zandt
Guy Clark

all of the above are worth youtubing.

I like Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Old Metallica....that kinda stuff

Never heard of any of the alternative country acts.

Best concert I've ever was iron maiden, when they did the somewhere back in time tour. Twas awesome!
What's your instrument of choice?

I play guitar.

I can fake it with most things that have strings, and piano. I can also fool non-harmonica players into thinking that I know how to play harmonica.

I also have the ability to make a squawking noise with reed instruments. Much like the sound a peacock makes.

*chuckles*
You sound quite musically talented. How long have you been playing?
I play bass.

Hallelujah, written by Leonard Cohen, who I was just made aware a few days ago that The Civil Wars did his Dance Me to the End of Love.

in my opinion, his version of hallelujah is too weird to be good. He did another verse or two than most other people do, though, so that's neat.

mine is loosely based on rufus wainwright's version.

Jeff Buckley tore it up! the best, I reckon.

Yes, Jeff Buckley's is the best. I only meant that Cohen was the initial songwriter. Sometimes originals aren't as good as someone else's arrangement. An example that comes to mind is when Adele covered Lovesong, by The Cure. Much better in my opinion.

I'll throw another in. Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of Hendrix's "Little Wing" is superior to the original.

occasionally the student surpasses the master.

 I don't know either. I'll look it up tomorrow. Rock should be enjoyed loudly.
