*carefully picks an ice cube out of the tray and presses it to the middle of Dave's back*

Hello, Tiger.

Yoweeeeee! Wow that's cold!!!!

And wow, you've gotten really good at sneaking up on me. How you doin' Sugar?

*shrugs and pulls up a barstool*

Been better, honestly. Seems like the bum weather this time of year's getting me down.

*stretches my arms out against the granite bartop, enjoying the coolness on my scratched, scraped and cut up forearms. Fence-building is hard work, even for someone who's used to it like me. *

On the plus side it makes me hungry. Any chance of a burger? And a vodka cranberry for after, if you don't mind.

One Cape Cod coming right up.

And I have some lotion--if you'll allow me--that should fix up those scratches.

After, I'll go put a burger on.

uh, sure. Thanks. Lotion and food. Sounds good.

As I'm rubbing lotion all over Whip's arms I can't help but think about all we've been through together and that I would step in front of a bullet for this woman. She's tough, smart, clever, and for some reason, puts up with me.

And she's always been right here, right in front of me. And I never reach out to take it...

*sighs as the numbing agent in the lotion starts to take effect, blacking out all the little aches and pains that hours of fencing cause*

Mmmmmm, that feels so good.......

*snaps out of the trance like state brought on by finally touching Whip.*

I'll...uh...I'll get you that burger. And another drink.

Well, I'm finally back in the bunker.

Earlier today I met up with a group of scamps playing outside the old elementary school and I decided to sit down with them for a while. They seemed to like having a mother around. :)

I checked them all for bite marks. They asked if I would stay and eat with them, and I of course said yes. They were so cute!

They seem to have set up a camp of sorts and were very self sufficient little buggers. They knew how to hunt and fish, and build fires. I'm was amazed at what these boys could do. When we finished our meal together, we played a few games together. I was made to promise I would come back and visit at least once a week.

As astonishing as it sounds, despite the huge mess we made, as soon as were were finished, they cleaned up and left no trace whatesoever. No wonder they had stayed safe from the zombies. These are the children who will rebuild this wasteland, and I am proud they look up to me.

I however, am feeling a bit peaked, and am glad I packed some of my elderberry elixir with me. It's a homemade concoction I made in the spring with dried ellderberries, honey from my bees (I hope they survived the apocalypse!!), and100 proof...

I know I feel better after drinking it, but one thing is for sure, if you drink enough of it you won't care if you're sick or not anyway..:D

So, I heat some water at the bar and make myself a hot toddy..

Amazing children!

So I could a bit of the elderberry elixir if you could spare some? Coming down with a nasty cold -- maybe it will help.

Thanks Dave, you're a doll.

Got any projects running? Anything you need a hand or two with? I'm planning on staying nice and close to the bunker for the next few days.

*stomach growls at the scent of raw meat*

Roxie, anyone who wants some of my elixir is welcome to it. Drink it straight by the spoonful, or mix it with hot water like I am right now. I am coming down with something, and a day or so of this usually helps. I've got to remember to make more...

'Round here?!?!?!

Holy crap!

Wanna go scavenging tomorrow?

I want to get another generator and another hot water heater. I know where to find them and if we can bring one of the heavy military trucks with the crane on the back, we can bring them back here easily.

There's just too many people here showering for the original equipment to keep up. And luckily, I left room for additional generators and other equipment like hot water heaters, storage tanks, and stills to recover our water.

Grab your rifle and be read at 9?

'Night Sweetie. I'm going to bed before y'all today.

It's been one of those days.

Y'all take care.

*Walks into common area, strolls through the dining hall, and enters kitchen. Sees crumbs of cupcakes and senses testosterone in the air.*

Hmmmmm.

*Wonders briefly if there is a threat. Decides zombies don't eat cupcakes and further, that any man entering here is probably ok since he ate the cupcakes instead of waking one of us up with the barrel of a gun.*

*Goes and takes a shower...alone...and checks the diesel generators, the biodiesel tanks, the hot water heaters, the communications room, the motor pool, and the ammo dump/armory. Sees no other evidence of male intrusion. Wonders where the new guy has gone...*

*Returns to kitchen, sets out maple syrup, butter, and toast. Begins making pancakes. Knows that the smell will attract friends.*

"Come and get it, y'all!"

*Hopes everyone can get a good meal in before today's scavenging expedition.*

Hmmmm....

Probably was a little rude to just eat those cupcakes without even so much as a "by your leave".

*Drops off case of soap bars in exchange.*

I wonder if there's hot running water in this joint?

*Walking up behind the guy that just set down the box of soap, I thumb the safety of my pistol to the "off" position*

"Speak up, Chief. Friend or foe? Choose wisely. I don't mind you eating the cupcakes, but if you're here to hurt one of these women, I'll end you."

Easy there, Cochise. If I were other than a friend, you'd not have known I had stopped. I just needed a bite to eat - and if you have fresh water, a drink and a chance to get cleaned up. I even brought my own soap...

*Walks into the common room and heats up some water for tea and looks for ibuprofen*

"I'm not feeling worth a damn today, so I may just hang in my room today. I will take a pancake, though. I need juice..."

I talk to Dave and find out that someone snuck in and ate the cupcake I left for him. On any other given day I might be chomping at the bit to have a few choice words with the thief, but since I am feeling poorly, and a bit weak, I simply close my eyes and shake my head.

"I'll find more cupcakes if I manage to get out today. What kind of cupcakes should I look for? I personally like anything with buttercream icing...:D"

*sits down and eats her pancakes*
