Ironically, he was on The Daily Show not too long ago, and it was actually an interesting and entertaining interview. He actually comes off as a likable person. Whereas she strikes me as neither all that attractive, or interesting. I mean.. you love who you love, but it's odd to me that she's the one that would catch his attention.

Yeah pretty much agree with all of this.

As a person who has endured most all of the first, and come stupidly close to having to deal with the second the problem is not the weapons themselves, it is the sheer level of failure in our culture.

Then again other cultures are much worse. I believe I read a story not long ago where a middle eastern couple killed their daughter for just looking at a boy in one of the worst ways I can think of.
