Wierdness day.
This afternoon, I went to my baby girl's baby shower.
Strange.
All her friends apparently love me.... and some of them (who are also pregnant) now want me as their birth-partner!
They say they like the way I won't take shit, and they are jealous of my daughter because I will be there to make sure she gets treated as THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON in the room during her delivery

Had wonderful nurses/midwives for my cherubs' birth, and played poker with the gyno for the first. Hopefuly you won't need to worry about that side of it and will be able to just support her.

I wish. Unfortunately, the midwife, who has been doing home visits for a couple of weeks, is trying to force my daughter to agree to an epidural.
My daughter doesn't want one, because one of my friends had one that went horribly wrong and she is now in a wheelchair.
Daughter was on the phone to me in tears after the last home visit, because she feels so pressured and scared.
So I have agreed to be there in the room for the entire delivery, because my daughter is afraid she'll be unable to stand up to them at the time.
In fact, I am so angry at this midwife for how she has gone about the whole subject that I will help my daugter get her replaced.
I HATE when they use scare-tactics

I agree!!! NO epidural!!! No-one was gonna get near my spine with one of those things. I know people who have had them and they're fine, but personally I don't like anything that invasive, if I can avoid it. The spine is so touchy. I had gas only, set low. Not a martyr, just healthy and robust then.

Midwife is supposed to be there for your DAUGHTERS' birth plan.

This midwife has also told my daughter that it is better to have an episiotomy than to tear naturally.
Chances are, if she takes after me, she won't tear anyway! And tears heal faster.

My daughter had a water birth - not really by choice beforehand, but because she didn't want to get out of the pool when it was time to push :D No drugs either not even the gas. No tearing - all she had was a slight abrasion at the back entrance to her vagina which healed with no problems. And this was an over-8lb-baby

I had an epidural with my first, I wish I hadn't but they had to speed things along because I was taking forever to dilate enough. He ended up being a forceps birth because I couldn't feel to push properly. I had an episiotomy and stitches...ouch.

I went for a natural birth the second time, just a bit of gas during the transition phase and then it was all on! I tore a bit along the episiotomy scar so more stitches

My daughter ran into trouble with the midwife afterwards because bubs apparently wasn't gaining weight fast enough. He had a slight tongue tie which made latching onto the breast more difficult, she was using a nipple shield which was working and he was feeding well with that. I googled how much weight a breast fed baby should be gaining and he was right in the middle of the chart. Midwife wasn't happy and was talking about supplementing and even having to put bubs in hospital - scaremongering for a new mum. Daughter went to see a breastfeeding nurse and was told to just persevere she was doing ok - lo and behold he gained 350g the next week and never looked back. Daughter decided to get rid of midwife and go to plunket clinics instead. He's now 7 months and over 8kg :)

Tomorrow I hope to find out why my heartbeat has been between 130-140 for almost a month

Just to let you all know

Mrs webbo and I have split up:( - it was a joint decision and after 3 weeks of going forwards and backwards we decided that it was best if we ended it as good friends

I don't know if she comes on here much anymore or not

we decided to remain a part of each others lives and the boys know that no matter what happens we are here for them and that we love them

Webbo out

I am sorry to hear of the split but I am happy you and her decided to keep it an amicable split. Especially because of the children. My ex and I were married 18 years and we decided splitting was the best way. And it has been. We are in touch once in awhile. We are friends. There is a large difference. We never had any children.

Keeping you and her and your boys in my prayers.

{{{{{Orlanth}}}}} I'm so sorry to hear of all of the medical issues that have raised their heads lately.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know what they find out about your pulse rate.

Afternoon all,

Yes been a long time since I was last here, but life stuff needs attention and I certainly have busy doing that for several months.

Well its official... in Melbourne town as of this month the old paper ticket system on the PT is dead, we have been forced to use the new MYKI system or mickey system as some of us call it. You can still buy a 2hr paper ticket on trams, but that's about it. You all now need to buy a plastic piece of crap then load money on it.

My venture in to this new environment was lets say rather interesting, others would say fucking stupid, but one must remove emotion from the process. If I was to include emotion in the process I'd fucking kick the shit out of the stupid fucking machines...however as I was saying once one removes emotion from the process it is quite...well its still annoying acutally.

Anyway as I was saying here is how I ventured forward into this new method:

Day 1 - I find out that I can either purchase a myki card thru the website or buy one at a super train station. I then discover my local train station is one such station. So I arrive at my local train station and look at the machine that quite confidently states I can buy a myki card from it. I attempt to so do only to find I can't. So I walk the four steps to the little window with an actual human behind it and ask how I can purchase a ticket from the machine only 5 ft away from me. I am told that I cannot and then I'm informed that I can however purchase the plastic piece of crap card from the human behind the little window with bars on it. So I do so and watch as this human registers my hi tech plastic piece of crap card on a rather low tech piece of paper using a pencil. I am then told to go back to the machine, 3ft away from me, and load money in the machine to add to the card. So following this process, for those playing along in the US its "proscess", apparently there is a fucking S in the middle of the word.

Still Day 1 - I go to said machine and place the plastic piece of crap card in a car holder which requires you to hold the card against the reader. I then see the various amounts of cash I can put on the plastic piece of crap card. I only had a $20 dollar bill left so I put that in and punch in $10, then I'm told by the little sign that no change is given by the machine. So now I have $20 on this plastic piece of crap card an no money in the wallet, however I do put the plastic piece of crap card in my wallet so technically I do have $20 dollars in my wallet.

Later Day 1 - I was informed by the website that I should register the plastic piece of crap card. So I access the registration page on the website only to be told that I cannot register my plastic piece of crap card until after 24 hrs from the time of purchase. They must have another human at the other end waiting fo the first human to post them the piece the paper with my card number on it.

Day 3 - I can now register my card.

Day 5 - I read on the website that to use the plastic piece of crap card I have to touch myself on then as I'm leaving I have to touch myself off. I was hoping not to be caught behind a female passenger, I'd be there all fucking day waiting for her to touch herself off whilst we did laps of the route, gives new meang to "are we there yet".....I then discover touching myself was not part of the proscess..

Well its cold, of course its winter and what happens in winter...your rather expensive hi tech space heater decides it doesn't want to light, then tells me to make a service call, smart things these warming devices....I was hoping it would dial for me...oh wait yes...the lovely people at the service centre don't work on a weekend.

So its out with the reliable elec heater and a blanket...I just heard we are heading for 4 deg overnight. Yeah...I wonder if I rub two angry possums together if I can generate more heat.

Hello.
Apart from the fact that it will be minus 3 tonight, and the fact that I have lost 20 ewes and 25 lambs in the last week...
:(

Can see this process creating wealth!!.... for Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Pencil manufacturers, Plastic Piece of Crap manufacturers, retailers of Mickey Mouse ears, and Zen Buddists/Tai Chi masters. I hope you can continue to remove emotion from the process, although that touching on and off may get tricky...... ;)

Great to see you back on the thread. I hope life has found it's equalibrium for you.

Nooooo!!!!!!!! What happened to them? Dogs? Cold? Poor babies. :(

Minus 6.2 on Friday but the day was stunning. Still hugging the column heater, although the oven is heating the cottage more efficiently. Go figure!

Hey Trisk,

Well I tried to use two buxom maids a milking but its hard to get a spark from a wet nipple.

Been far too busy doing other stuff. Had to take several work trips in the last few months and taking on new tasks and dealing with new management people. Plus doing several medical things as well. I think the only equilibrium will be when I take early retirement but I'm too young for that right now.

Went to a retirement seminar and they essentially told me thanks for coming but call us again in several years. The snacks and coffee were rather good though, plus got some good info and scored a nice pen so not a total waste of time. I intend to make full use of the Seniors tag when I get there. Luckily I can get a full pension and still work full time if I want to. Right now that's the only reason I'm still in the current job. The jackass count is getting up there.

I'm still enjoying the freedom of driving to work. Even getting my 30mins of excercise a day just walking to and from the car since I have to park a little way from the work place. All day carparks are a bit rare in that part of town.

Have a good weekend.:rose:

Mmmmm. We're gonna have to help you find a tinder box and some flint! :D ;)

Not sure who ran that retirement seminar and what their perspective was. Planning is best started early. Ummm, are you planning to welt people with your walking stick in the distant future?? :caning: :D Would like to see that! Fiesty! And Jackasses always pile by the roadside. They get swept up eventually.

You do not partake of the many joys public transport can bring??? Tsk!

You have a goodie , too. Was down there in Feb. Loved walking around St Kilda with great company. Boy, has it CHANGED!!!!! Great to see that the best of those great patisseries are still there, although I refrained from sampling the wares. :rose:

So sorry to hear your news, Webbo. Even when it's an amicable split, it's never nice. I hope you're looking after yourself.

WQ - how horrible for you to lose so many fur babies so quickly. I hope the weather improves soon and there are no more fatalities.

I hope everyone is staying nice and warm this winter. It's even been chilly here in Perth - we got into the negatives (finally) last week. Brrrrr
