The Last Thing You Thought...

Do share my dear. What catches your fancy today? Perhaps we can help convince you. ;)

Smith and Wesson Airweight .38 +P snubnose. It's so light, and has such a smooth beautiful trigger pull in double action, which I always am picky about. I usually shoot in single action because I don't like the hard pull.

I was also sorely tempted with a 9mm Finnish SMG, semi auto version. Been watching YouTube videos on it, and it looks impressive!

An excellent purse gun! Very popular these days. Reliable, light weight and easy to get out in a hurry (no hard or sharp edges to snag).

But with that short barrel, it's accurate range will be very short. You will want to practice often to stay proficient. At least the ammo is cheap!

Yep. The semi 9's are popular. Ammo is cheap, they can hold plenty of rounds and they can have very thin profiles (much thinner than revolvers) which is what makes them popular for inside the waist carry.

Nothing sexier than a lady with a gun. ;)

Oh, but you misunderstand me. The 9mm that is tempting me is a semi auto version of a WWII Finnish sub-machine gun; The KP31/M31. Not a carry gun by any means. It's heavy! But you're right about the capacity of the magazines. It comes with a 36 round stick and has an optional 71 round drum I could get.

Whadda you know that i dont know?

Only that the world is desperately short of love and intimate sharing. If it weren't the world would be much more civil place.

And I believe that nature abhors a vacuum. So if you are yearning for some naked writhing and sharing, I believe such an opportunity will find you.

Ahhh got it. Drum magazines are awesome. And they look cool too. But that lead gets heavy in a hurry. Not the kind of thing you want to be carrying around. But you can sure get some lead down range in a hurry with one.

Yeah, there is absolutely no rational reason for me to buy that gun. Only that I have a good supply of 9mm ammo on hand, and have been wanting a 9mm carbine for a long time. I had wanted a Berretta CX4 Storm though, and have only been waiting to save up for it. But this would be less than that one, even with the drum magazine too. I could get it for under $500.

As for the Smith and Wesson snubbie, I know it wouldn't be very accurate at longer ranges. But I figure a carry weapon is just designed to get me out of an immediate danger situation. I don't ever want to be in the mindset that I'm going to get into a prolonged shootout at longer ranges with bad guys. The carry gun is just a 'get their heads down so I can get the hell out of there' kind of distraction. And besides, this one comes with a Crimson Trace laser grip. The red dot goes where the bullet does. Point and shoot simplicity.

Oh, and plenty of practice is never a problem for me. I go shooting nearly every weekend!

Wise woman you are. I wish more gun enthusiasts were as rational and thoughtful as you.

You give me hope. ;)

It drives me crazy to read the comments left by people in articles and blogs about concealed carry issues. It's clear that they all think their going to be sitting in a lunch counter someday, and some armed hoodlums are going to rob the place right while they're at the busiest time of day, and then the good guy with his Glock .40 or whatever with multitudes of hi-cap magazines is just going to jump up and take them out, like the Lone Ranger.

First of all, concealed carry laws are pretty explicit about the fact that it's supposed to be for when you or someone elses life is in immediate danger. It's not so you can be the gunslinging hero, like Matt Dillon. And the best way to never need to use your carry gun is to stay out of dangerous situations. Bad guys aren't going to do stuff in the middle of the day when the crowd is at it's peak and there are lots of witnesses around. More likely at the ATM after dark, or in a dark parking lot late at night, etc. Stay away from those situations whenever possible and you should never have to use your carry gun.

I think of it like the proverbial 'distraction money clip' that they used to say you should carry just to throw away from you to give the bad guy something to go after while you run the other way. Except the carry gun is to make him run too.

Excellent post. And very well put. Much like hunting, it is difficult to have a rational discussion or debate about gun ownership or right to carry when others are so emotional and blind to the reality of statistics and personal accountability. As my grandmother used to say "My mind's made up, don't confuse me with the facts'.

Education is what is most important. No matter which side of the issue you are on. Irrational fear and lack of understanding should not be the foundation of one's arguments or beliefs.

LT: I dont like this paperwork at all. Not one little tiny bit. I dont like rewriting this particular story. It sucks. It's not fair. I hate it. My future depends on it though. I will see this through no matter how many times I have to walk away to breath.
