In the spirit of my request for music, here's the playlist I have running off my iTunes when I read or write on Literotica. Sure, some of it's tasteless pop, but that sort of thing has its virtues:

Lords of Acid:
Mister Machoman, Young Boys, The Crab Louse, Voodoo-U, Drink My Honey, Dirty Willy, Special Moments

Juno Reactor:
God is God

Joan Jett:
Do You Wanna Touch?, I Hate Myself for Lovin' You

Kylie Minogue:
All the Lovers

Madonna:
Revolver (Also much of the Ray of Light album if I'm going for romantic)

Lady Gaga:
Telephone, Monster

Britney Spears:
Gimme More (both original and Kaskade remix), Break the Ice, 'Til the World Ends

Christina Aguilera:
Dirrty, Lady Marmalade (w/Pink, others)

Rihanna:
Shut Up and Drive

Traci Lords:
Control (from the original Mortal Kombat soundtrack)

Janet Jackson:
Feedback (Wideboys Club Remix)

Sarah McLachlan:
Possession, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy

Sarah Brightman:
Much of the Dive album (Once In a Lifetime, Second Element I & II)

Bear McCreary:
Heeding the Call (BSG Soundtrack, Season 3)

Obviously, I have a preference for listening to women's voices when I'm thinking about sexy stuff. :) Just the same, I've found a few songs w/male vocalists that sometimes get me in the mood:

Theory of a Deadman - Bad Girlfriend
Motley Crue - Girls, Girls, Girls
My Darkest Days - Pornstar Dancing
Hellyeah - Alcohaulin'Ass

Anyone else feel like sharing? I have this terrible feeling that there are more/sexier songs out there that I'm just totally forgetting.

I can't write to vocals. If I have music on while I'm composing, it's got to be elevator music.

I have 1022 songs on my BB playlist.

If you like female vocalists you might like...

Cat Power - Naked If I Want To
The Wild Strawberries - Trampoline
Dawn Penn - No No No
Bebe - Siempre Me Quedara
Jakalope - Feel It

If you like any of the above, just let me know and I'll send you a bigger list :D

It's definitely a lot easier without vocals. I totally agree. I have a hard time finding non-vocal music that hits the right mood though... tribal-fusion stuff is close, but I don't know a whole lot of that. I need to do some exploring.

I find the first of the Deep Forest albums can be good to write to sometimes...

But vocals don't seem to bother me these days. Maybe that's just because the-louder-the-better is my main concern as it drowns out all outside noise!

My current playlist is a mixture of Adele, Florence & The Machine, Johnny Cash, Gotye, Lana Del Ray, U2 and James Taylor. Hm...bit of a weird mix!

I have a lot of the Solitudes CDs. The only problem with them is that a lot of them have running water in the background and I can spend a lot of time leaving the computer to hit the can and taking time to realize that it's just the CDs being suggestive. :D
