Obama Care, How Will Be Judged On Thursday?

For weeks we heard from liberals about how divisive it would be if a 5-4 decision were reached striking down the law, and how the nation would be divided, create uncertainty, blah, blah, blah.....I bet they cling to this 5-4 as it was made out of gold, but I submit this 5-4 is ever more divisive as most of the country opposes it and the drag it's going to put on the economy. Big market sell off in progress now.

You think -1.20% is a big selloff? That's what we get every four days when Greece or Spain say something.

"Amy Howe: The Court holds that the mandate violates the Commerce Clause, but that doesn't matter b/c there are five votes for the mandate to be constitutional under the taxing power."

But there is no tax as yet. There is no tax in the existing law.

Lyle: "In opening his statement in dissent, Kennedy says: 'In our view, the entire Act before us is invalid in its entirety.'"

After the initial shock it now seems to me that what Roberts did is really OK cuz what it does is forces Congress to impose a tax but the tax cant be a penalty, and it cant be driven by the commerce clause. How likely is a tax coming outta the GOP House?

About as likely as the Dems getting this ruling and then repealing their own law.

The GOP House is going to repeal the whole thing, so the decision will be moot, as a money bill cannot be initiated in the Senate. At the very least they can refuse to fund it.

Given that the GOP refused to fund two wars and Medicare Part-D, who gives a shit? The GOP governs by not only refusing to fund its policies but by cutting taxes to reduce revenue. This is just more of the same old boring tripe.

Exactly! Obama got his mandate and nuthin to pay for it with. And he cant loadup Medicaid unless he pays the States.

I think Obama was fucked.

There yuh go. We're back to square one.

The American people really love everything IN the ACA, they just dont want to pay for it.
