America's Most Over-Rated!

Not limited to America of course, but know what's over rated?

Making love.

Sex is an animal act and should be raw, raunchy, hot and fun (depending on your tastes sometimes even violent)

Why do I need to be sweet and loving during sex?

I'm affectionate before and after, my wife knows I love her, but I also love to fuck her.

Ah. Dare I say, a little TMI there. But -- whatever works for you.

I don't have sigs or AVs displayed, so no, I don't know what your stuff was.

As for The Matrix -- the first movie was a lot of fun and pretty interesting. Then I think the creators started believing all the hype. My biggest problem -- at the end of all of that, the best resolution they can come up with is a first fight? Seriously? I don't care how fast they were doing it or what positions they took. That was lame.

Thing was, with the premise and build up they had, nothing was going to truly deliver so they went with action.

LALALA

NOT LISTENING!!!

Seriously, do you guys remember what my AVs were for the longest time? Are you TRYING to make me sad? :(

There were some good ideas in the second one, but the third one was total shit. Open canopy mech suits? Not using ship EMP against all of the robots in the docking bay? I thought they said in the first one their only weapon was the EMP, and all of a sudden they have guns on their ships? Why did Smith want the codes to the gates of Zion in they were just going to tunnel in anyway? If they have done this several times before, why didn't they have a secret back door to use to invade Zion? Why did Neo have powers outside of the matrix?

And then there were the poorly done effects of the 100 Smith battle. The inconsistency of the locations of Zion, with the control room looking like something from out of 2001, and the rest of Zion looking like Planet of the Apes.

Which still didn't deliver.

Didn't say it did, but I guess they had to do something. Honestly, I thought the fight scenes were the best part of the movies, so I wasn't really upset.

Although the over the top "superman" type thing with the flying was lame.

But going back to the first movie, I think the Neo/Smith fight was great and loved that little tumble weed effect of that paper blowing around between them before they fought. Very gunslinger.

There is a fan theory that they were STILL in the matrix.

There is the deepest layer of the matrix, for the sheeple majority, and then a 'backup' layer for the rebellious ones. That way, they have a safety net. They are fighting a war, they are engaged, so they have no reason to believe that they are still under.

I understand the flaws, but as a hardcore fan, I refuse to acknowledge them.

It's not perfect, but Prometheus is good.

It's the kind of good that makes you hate the things that make it imperfect and makes you wish you could go back in time, tell Ridley what's off about it, make him correct it and then come back to the time you left just to watch it all over again. :D

It is good, and time travel would work to fix the gaping plot holes/issues...makes me hope he made them on purpose and will explain it all in the big reveal part III.

There you go.

Serenity is awesome. Doctor Horrible, too.

Dances with Wolves.

Or as it should have been called...

"Kevin Costner is a better Native American than the Native Americans"

There is a fan theory that they were STILL in the matrix.

I have heard the fan theories, and I wish that some of those fans had written the sequels because they made a hell of a lot more sense than the actual movies did.

McDonalds. (based on my local experience)

The service is good, fast and courteous. The prices are low. The toilets are clean. The staff are well-motivated and have opportunities to progress. The restaurants are child and disabled-friendly. Ronald McDonald houses are invaluable for parents of children in hospital...

But the food is awful. Almost any other burger chain produces better burgers. Roadside stalls provide more meat in the burger. Vegetables? What are vegetables? Salad is provided only with dressings that make a low-calorie option into a high-calorie item.

The behaviour of the customers is the worst thing about McDonalds. Aparting from treating the staff badly, the amount of litter within a three mile radius of any Drive-through McDonalds is almost all McDonalds related. Any proposal to site a McDonalds is greeted with dismay because the local environment will be degraded with litter.

I work at a sonic...

There is an entire page of items that we don't serve anymore, namely, the salads and wraps and every moderately healthy item on the menu.

We get free food, so it's very hard to work there and NOT pig out all day.

This should bring the wrath of ... well ...not God ... ummm ... his fans(?) down on my head, but I think Stephen King is vastly overrated as a 'horror' writer. "The Shining" scared the crap out of me, but his quality has declined precipitously since then. Dare I say it, he's gone formula IMO. :(

Cell phones.

What did you really get last year for your $750, ...$1,200, or ...$1,500 ?

Annoying calls ? Hassles ? Tons of fine print ? Lousy connections ?

My cell phone (mobile phone in UK) cost me £20 five years ago. Total credit added to it in last year - £10. Remaining credit - £8.57.

It doesn't need to cost the earth.

I dunno, I kinda disagree with this one. Granted, I paid $0 for my phone last year, so I don't know if this counts, but

1) I get texting, which works out great because I hate talking on the phone
2) I don't get the fucking telemarketers calling me three times an hour like I would on my land line
3) I save a fuckton of money because my mobile plan is about $50 a month, and my land line was over $75 when I finally canceled it.

I don't use smartphones, but I know one guy who would be crippled without his. He is simply never home and has to work on the road all the time. He can't wait till he gets home to send emails or make calls.

What I do think is overrated is treating your phone like a leash. Don't let it control you. Turn the damn thing off once in a while. The world won't spin into the sun.

...

You should watch Supersize Me. It's a documentary about a guy who went on a 30 day McDonald's only "diet." Seriously, check it out.

BMWs, on the other hand... :)

That reminds me of that old joke.

"What's the difference between a BMW and a porcupine?"

"The pricks are on the outside of the porcupine!"

I guess you can substitute any car, but anywhere I've heard it, its been beamers.

Beemers.

BMWs aren't doing too well with Consumer Reports either.
