Alarm Grows Among Dems About Obama’s Chances

“You can be stylish and powerful, too. That's Michelle’s advice.”
-- President Obama telling graduates to temper but preserve their interest in clothing during his commencement address at Barnard College, a women-only college of New York’s Columbia University.
It has taken months of bad news, but Democrats increasingly believe that President Obama might just lose his re-election bid.
The latest wake-up call comes in the form of a New York Times/CBS poll showing Republican Mitt Romney in the lead not just among registered voters overall, but with women and independents.

Americans See Obama as Solid Favorite to Win Election
Fifty-six percent think Obama will win; 36% think Romney will

PRINCETON, NJ -- Fifty-six percent of Americans think Barack Obama will win the 2012 presidential election, compared with 36% who think Mitt Romney will win. Democrats are more likely to believe that Obama will win than Republicans are to believe Romney will. Independents are nearly twice as likely to think that Obama, rather than Romney, will prevail.

Americans more optimistic economy is looking up, poll says

By Susan Page, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON – Americans may be downbeat about today's economy, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, but they are increasingly optimistic that things are about to get better for the nation and themselves.

Though an overwhelming 71% rate economic conditions as poor, a 58% majority predict they will be good a year from now. While those surveyed are inclined to say they are worse off financially than a year ago, nearly two-thirds say they think they'll be better off this time next year.

The assessment of personal finances already is on the upswing. More than a third report they are better off than they were a year ago — the highest number since before the economic meltdown in 2008. (They're still outnumbered by the four in 10 who say they're worse off, though.)

The sense that the recession's impact finally is lifting should be good news for President Obama, since an improving economy typically boosts the prospects for a White House incumbent running for re-election.

Indeed, regardless of which candidate they support, those surveyed predict by 56%-36% that the president will win in November over Republican Mitt Romney. That's a bigger edge than Obama had at this point four years ago; then, by 52%-41%, Americans said he would defeat Republican John McCain.

Stocks sag on report GM is pulling Facebook ads
The Wall Street Journal says the automaker believes its Facebook ads don't add to sales. Crude oil falls under $94, undercutting gains for JPMorgan Chase. Growing Greek and European uncertainty weighs on investors.

I knew the hydrophobic puddle snappers would show up.:D

There, there, my conservative comrade. Don't cry, dry your eye. Something irrelevant to the discussion but still negative towards liberals and Democrats will surely happen in the world sometime today or tomorrow and you'll be right there glued to your computer screen and tappin' that refresh key in order to meme vector it back here and show us all. ;)

And remember to take a lunch break sometimes! I worry about your health, pal! :D

It's like hog callin' time. I just created a thread highlighting a story about a censored race war by Dr. Thomas Sowell. Watch them call both him and me a racist for bringing it up.

Oh, I saw that thread and I yawned. Must be a slow news day, eh? :D

Not that I wanna burst your glossy self-importance soap bubble here, but it's weak when you have to advertise your threads in another thread because the one you made is boring and nobody is giving a shit about it. Just to let you know. I'd hate to see you have to go out like a sucker. ;)

the only thing, the right thing to do, is to follow the french and tax the rich their fair share, right! anyone earning a million or more deserves to hit hard with a min 75% tax rate! how dare these people dare to do that

We used to do that. When we did we had the best schools and top scoring students in the entire world. We went to the moon and started the internet. We also steadily paid down the national debt. I don't particularly want to do that, it seems a bit draconic but it seems to have worked. I certainly don't remember much history in the 50's, 60's or 70's talking about rich people shutting down factories because the weren't making enough money after lazy socialist union mobs were done shaking em down.

no no no, government people are lazy and DONT want to work. if they gave back the pension to the people that they robbed, aka tax payers, and we fire 50% of all government workers, then end the obama wars, WE CAN FIX AMERICA

we don't give seanH more drugs, after all he's a junkie, and junkies need rehab.

those in government need rehab for their reckless spending

Must be tough laboring under the misconception that I give two shits.:D

Lucky for you your trusty racist shitstain BFF bailed you out thirty minutes after you made the thread (and after I pulled your card on its empty auditorium) with a few multi-post squawks. Now, even though it's still going triple-lead on the hit parade, your thread won't be a total pathetic fail. ;)
