Oh Look! New Muslim Law

This thread was over in post 24, when Islandman posted the Christian Science Monitor's excellent refudiation of this non-story.

f you actually read the article, it nowhere says there's really such a pending law. All it really is about is that Dr. Mervat al-Talawi sent an appeal to not pass such a law.
How many leaders of groups (and politicians for that matter) in the US get taken in by rumor and fear mongering and start claiming there is some new horrible law? Lots.
What makes Dr. Mervat al-Talawi so much more intelligent and less gullible than any other person?

Just because it's on an Arab news site doesn't mean they aren't less gullible.

If it was not for the scholar’s level of seniority, I would dismiss this fatwa as yet another deranged, lonely individual who did not get some for a while. But this is Zemzami. And it is a Fatwa from an official of the Habous ministry. If indeed such Fatwa is genuine.

You should probably 'vet' your information a little better.

Islandman's post points out that this cleric also turned the Koran on its head and declared that women could drink alcohol, but only when they are pregnant!

"(respected) Islamic scholar" indeed. He's the Rev. Al Sharpton of Islam.

I must admit I find it heartening to see a revulsion to necrophilia here from the fringe right.

...A revulsion was noticeably absent when it was revealed that Rick Santorum brought home the corpse of his dead infant for an overnight stay and tea party with his (living) children....
