The Construction Thread

And good thing the floor deck stopped it...doesn't happen when it goes end first

It took a couple of bounces off the iron on the way down, so it didn't land full force which was just as well since it hit the planking over the elevator shaft, not the deck.

I wrote "Needs front and rear escorts" in 72 pt font on my drawing. They tried to ship it today during curfew hours AND without front escorts. Gah! It's enough to make me want to pull my hair out.

Buy them books. Send them to school. What do they do? Eat the teacher.

I have alot of respect for females who have what it takes to put up with the bullshit.

Thank you.

I have a lot of respect for most people in this industry. It can be rough, dangerous and scary. There is rarely any recognition or respect. However once you earn that, you're doing pretty well.

After more than 10 years of planning to add 23 miles of Metro rail line in Northern Virginia, the second part of the Silver Line project could be dead before a spade of dirt is turned.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Virginia, and Loudoun and Fairfax counties are at a stalemate over pro-union labor deals, concerns about costs and an inspector general’s investigation of the authority.

...

But the airports authority hasn’t been able to solicit bids yet for Phase 2, and construction was scheduled to start in spring 2013.

...

Some Virginia lawmakers have adamantly said they don’t want the right-to-work state to contribute $150 million to the project’s nearly $3 billion construction cost because MWAA has decided to give potential contractors a 10 percent incentive if their bids favor union labor.

I saw the proposed plans for the new WTC tower. The last time I saw it, it was a three-story hole in the ground.

"March 2012- Synonymous with upstanding character and a willingness to learn, the Boy Scouts of America, with headquarters in Irving, Texas, spans the United States. As a result of direct feedback from scout youth and a helping hand from the American Welding Society, Miami, the Scouts are introducing a new badge for welding.
Very cool!
I taught one of my sons to weld some years back, he really liked it. His first project was a biplane (about a 15" wing span) for it younger brother. Some flat stock, 1/8" TIG wire for the struts & braces, washers for the wheels and random bits we found around the garage. It didn't fly too well. :D

today i perved on construction workers from my car. it's safer that way.
