Oh yeah, I heard part of that story but didn't get the details....they need to fire every tenth man at DOB-Cranes and Derricks, like the Romans used to when a legion mutinied.

It took a couple of bounces off the iron on the way down, so it didn't land full force which was just as well since it hit the planking over the elevator shaft, not the deck.

I have a lot of respect for most people in this industry. It can be rough, dangerous and scary. There is rarely any recognition or respect. However once you earn that, you're doing pretty well.

I taught one of my sons to weld some years back, he really liked it. His first project was a biplane (about a 15" wing span) for it younger brother. Some flat stock, 1/8" TIG wire for the struts & braces, washers for the wheels and random bits we found around the garage. It didn't fly too well.
