Gunmaker invents chilling double-barrel handgun

Pick them up and take a pic.

Tails from the long ago....

Tried that. Many years ago in a land over on the other side of the water we had culvert halves buried upright in the berm around our bunker as fighting positions. I found a small Cobra, about 12" or 14" long in one. I got myself a forked stick and was in the process of trying to catch it. I wanted to stitch it's mouth shut and carry it around in my pocket for a day or two before I let it go. Like I said, I was trying to get the little fucker pinned so I could grab him when one of the other guards walked up and ask what I was doing. I told him I was trying to catch the snake and was going to carry it around in my pocket. The fucker put his M16 barrel a foot from my ear and let off a burst, splattering my snake as he said,"No you ain't."

If I hadn't been dancing around in pain holding my ear I might have kicked his ass. Or maybe, since he still had his M16 in his hand, not.

Shades of the 1800s. I remember seeing a side by side percussion black powder pistol at a gun show years ago. I don't remember the caliber but I'm pretty sure it wasn't .45 cal.

Several years ago I had a Colt 1911A1 .45 cal. I had a gun smith work the sear down to 4lb. trigger poll. Once I got it back I took it out to the range to try it out. After a few rounds it doubled on me. I* didn't get hit in the face with it but I damn well felt it.

I stripped it down and found the so called gun smith had fucked up the sear. I bought a new part and worked it myself. It ended up with a 4.1lb. pull. Within NRA specs for competition pistol trigger pull. I had it for several years and never had any more problems with it.

So having survived a double from a single frame .45 ACP I believe with a heaver pistol double firing it would not be too bad. I do wonder why in the hell anyone would want one other then the novelty.

So does walking around them and taking pictures.

Normally yea...99.999% of the time I don't fuck with the wildlife. However if one of the little fuckers or any of their crew or other vermin decide to take up residence in and or close proximity to my home, tactical error on the critters part.

Just watched the video again... It seems to totally pointless. I can understand the idea of two bullets being better than one - fine. However, I can see a great deal of flaws here.

They basically squished two 45's together and covered them up together. There's two separate triggers... Those bullets are not going to be coming out at the same time so there goes that. With the two separate triggers, one has to have a pretty big friggin hand to hold and squeeze it. And then that recoil? No thanks.

I like my guns. I think it is neat looking and would love to have it gracing the shelf in my safe, but just, no. The only time it would see the light of day is to show it off...

Then again, showing off my guns against a guys, sounds like fun. I may just have to get one to sit next to my M1a and collect dust.

Both have to fire at the same time, the slide is are one piece not two separate ones. Just a gimmick gun that no one has made before.

That will come next week when Obama's minions get a chance to digest it.

Nancy loves my Bennelli M4. :D

How convenient! Someone has finally invented a weapon that combines the killing power of a double-barreled shotgun with the portability of a handgun. After a decade of development, Arsenal Firearms is turning out a double-barreled .45 caliber, semi-automatic handgun that allows you to shoot two bullets at the same time, Gizmodo reports.

Not for lightweights.

Nor particularly well suited to concealed carry, I'm thinking.

True, other than novelty I'm wondering what purpose it serves? I have a 1911A1 that I can empty in 6 secs and you can cover the 10ft. group with your hand. If that isn't good enough than a few extra shoots isn't going to help at all.

Yeah, I was wondering that as well. I haven't looked at the site yet. Might be...amusing to see what uses they suggest for it. I guess if you expanded it into a carbine it would come in handy for raiding the other guy's drug headquarters or some shit like that. I think VBM is right, though; there won't be a lot of these made and it might appreciate in value as a novelty.

Much like the long ago first series .44 Automag. Not many of them were made because they were a huge pistol. 15 years later though they were commanding a nice price.

It will have value after they quit making it. Family heirloom as it were.

The .45 ACP is far too much a handful for most people as it is.

I had forgotten about the automag. Harry Callahan and Mack Bolan loved that gun. Ever shoot one? I wonder what the recoil was like on it.

Yup. Maybe I should invest in one. It would be a funny thing to have kicking around the house.

I fired a Kimber a couple months ago and it didn't seem all that big a deal to me. It felt more powerful, but the recoil wasn't that bad. Maybe a benefit of weighing a few more than 200 lbs these days.
