Ignorant enough to know the court just shot down putting a GPS transmitter on a person's car as being an illegal search. I can't imagine the conservatives upholding Posner on this one.

That was a tongue in cheek play on his name. With all of the info people have on their phones these days, I think it turns the Constitution on it's head. Damn good reason why people should encrypt their phone data and not giver up the key without a court order.

Posner takes a dim view of second guessing what policemen do in the name of civil liberties.

And, he thinks a constitutional right to privacy does not make economic sense.

So his opinion is not shocking.

I think you have reasonable expectation to privacy in your car. The Supreme Court shut that argument down years ago. Point being, I disagree with Posner.

I was going to say, if you had text notes or other info regarding a client or the defense of a client on your phone, how eager would you be to turn it over to the police without a court order?

We're living in interesting times.

The ease with which data can be gathered and analyzed is making a lot of people queasy. Now everyday Joes are thinking about how their privacy interests can be abused.

You've got two choices. Admit privacy is an outdated concept. Or step up vigilance.
