Do you live there? Have you visited? What's it like? I need to know all about it. The weather, the terrain, the people, most importantly the people, the prices of things in general, the weed laws, etc.

I think I want to go to there. Vermont is kind of cool too, but I don't know about that sort of weather. I'm so beyond ready to GTFO of Texas.

Is this some sort of "out Perg" thread? I live in Vermont now and moved here after five years in Portland OR. Whatcha want to know, Stoney, my enduring litlove?

Check out the Vermont state taxes before moving there.

The tax form was a PITA. I'd rather do business across the river to the east.

A nice enough little place. I'm spoiled by the gun laws in my state.

I generally prefer NH for a lot of reasons.

They're mighty similar, in fact.

Indeed, 19°F and we've got a bit of freezing rain coming down, right now.

I think I'm gonna win this one, at least from Stoney's perspective...43F and bright sun with just a residue of crusty snow here.

The freezing rain is only supposed to last another hour. Then, it's snow and more snow. As far as a win, I can be skiing in 10 minutes.

killington is a great area

and weed is the #1 state crop the farms around NH and VERMONT are supplying most of newengland with weed:)

Right. You don't have them either.

I have been to places where they have them, so I really do know what they are. And, I've traveled some roads, pre and post billboard deployment and find they add the extra "blah" to a mediocre road trip.

Vermont's really nice. Can't speak to Oregon. Flee Texas while you still can. :D

Urban blight in the shape of a reclining monolith. I fucking hate them.

Well, you win for me, but I meant from a Texan's perspective.
No billboards in Vermont. You'd be surprised what that does to heal the psyche.
That's one of the most immediately noticeable differences when you drive across the Connecticut River into VT.

I'm neutral since I found out their history. I'm not a fan, but knowing where they started somehow softened my thoughts on them.

I have lived here off and on for 28 years ask any questions you would like.

Could a Texan be happy in such a small state?

I'm not sure. I mean, I think it's kinda cool that in the time it takes for her to drive across, say, Houston, I can be in Canada. OTOH, Lady P does say that after 16 years in the West she feels kinda hemmed in here at times.

Not much snow this year but Mt Bachelor is my all time fav place for intermediate downhill and cross-country. Mt Ashland is good for snow play. I have family in Medford who are pioneer stock. Environmentalists are rightfully concerned and have acquired more regulation on http://www.hellgate.com/ jet boat rips but it really is a blast. There are plenty of quiet times on the journey and you can see wildlife including eagles. The brunch trip is delicious!

Seriously? An outdoor thermometer that caught some warmth? It hasn't gone out of the 30s today where you are. Very sunny! I haven't made it past 29 today.

Hemmed in is a good description.
