Always wondered how they made that high pitched sound in pre-synthesizer era, maybe a therimin?

There were synthesizers 40 years ago (I think that's when the Mystery Movie debuted). Weird, it's been decades since I heard that tune and I can still recall it. I guess that's how TV themes work on you.

I always liked the theme to Battlestar Galactica, because it really set the tone for the show--that it wouldn't be what you usually think of as "sci-fi."
