I think in reality, it isn't society it is the advertising. In reality, from my eyes every single female I work with (except for one, for other reasons) has a boyfriend. Some have husbands, though not many as they are overall a younger group. These women are of all ages and sizes and shapes. To flip it around, the biggest guy is actually engaged to the tiniest woman there.
