What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

1). They aren't going to write any legislation I support. I am a Libertarian, not a man vested in making government work for me by the selection of a party to power.

Really? You don't support tax reform in the form of a flat tax? Or at least a move in that direction? Heaps of Republicans are going to be all over it when they get back into power at some point.

Of course the fact is you don't know what legislation they will write. You just want to position yourself a certain way in this argument so as to give Republicans a pass for their filibuster abuse.

2). Yes you did. It was in the 7th or 8th thread about the Karma.

Quote me. If you can show me I'll apologize.

3). No, his cronies selected Finland to manufacture the cars for the rich that we are subsidizing...

Vette's own article (that he didn't read) said that Fisker selected a company in Finland as a temporary contract manufacturer until their Delaware plant was up and running. And that no suitable facility existed in the USA.

The company in Finland does not have Fisker employees.

Let Fisker act freely in the market if they want.

Now, when that happened under Bush, it was the result of his failed policies.

When did temporary automobile manufacturing happen under Bush. I didn't even know such a thing even existed until yesterday.

That plant is not opening in America unless these guys get another huge infusion of stimulus...

... in China maybe.

It's not my flat tax.

Fine, you said you supported Cain's plan and have defended it zealously. If Cain is elected and his plan is proposed, you're not going to have any problem at all with it failing in the Senate when it passes by a nearly 20-vote margin?

I don't believe you.

I have never been a fan of the flat tax.

There will be no flat tax.

The Democrats will not have to even filibuster it. You did mention SNOWE before...

I don't give a crap that they have a factory in another country. Most of America's large corporations do. As long as they're making payments on their loan everything is fine by me. They'll pay it back with interest so the US should actually make a profit.

I'd much rather see the market contain American companies with overseas factories than by foreign companies with overseas factories.

You mean, this merc?

You don't seem at all concerned about out-sourcing jobs as long as it's on Obama's watch...

Well the Democrats countered with reconciliation after they lost the Kennedy seat...

You might also want to look at the filibustering of judges.

Judges aren't filibustered because they aren't bills. Do you realize how many judges Obama has waiting on a vote that the Republicans are simply sitting on? Including ones deemed emergency positions?

It's a serious problem in both parties. But the fact is dozens of Republicans during the Bush years said "elections have consequences, every nominee deserves an up or down vote regardless of party!" Want me to quote McConnell and ten other GOP senators saying as much? I have here in the past.

Except what they really meant was that Republican nominees should be voted on quickly and Democratic ones should be shelved for a year before a vote.

The Democrats were the last ones to threaten the filibustering of a judge...

That is true. It is a useful tool, like reconciliation was when they did not have the votes to pass a filibuster because "That's nice Eric, but we won."

Again, read what I wrote in response to U_D.

THE SENATE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SLOWDOWN ON THE PASSIONS OF THE MOB!

It's called checks and balances and when you're out of power in '13, you're the one who is going to have a new-found love for them.

That was before I read Vette's full article. I initially thought that his C&P was the whole thing, turns out that sucker was four pages long and Vette wasn't forthcoming at all with the facts...

Here's where you're a massive liar. Outsourcing is when an American company closes it's factory in Topeka and sends it to China.

An American company that's building a factory in Delaware but TEMPORARILY CONTRACTS with an existing contract manufacturer in Finland until their Delaware plant is ready is not outsourcing at all. Especially when you consider that no suitable contract facility exists in America. They want to build cars now and cannot do so in America (yet).

No American jobs are being lost.

No American jobs are being moved overseas.

No outsourcing happened.

You're lying. Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh lied to you when they gave you your daily marching orders. You're gullible and small-minded and your belief system here was wholly dis-proven by an article another Conservative failed to read.

Own it.

And when the Republicans are in power I will support most filibusters they'll cry about. Though I also predict that the Democrats will be pussies and do a lot less filibustering than the Republicans did.

And I will also support serious reform of the filibuster process at the same time since it's now a systemic issue and not just a Republican one.

They are not building, they are refurbishing.

They will never put the plant into production, they're going to go bankrupt first because a) the car ain't that green and b) there's not much of a demand for it.

It's just another paygo scandal. You give me money, I give you money, you give me more money...,

I don't trust you to redo the Senate any more than the Progressive school of thought that took it away from the State legislatures and gave it over to the mob.

Some passions are meant to be cooled.

Otherwise we'll become Grecian Formula...

I'm Hungary for some French-fried €PIIGS!

So get back to me if their business fails. Until then you're just bitching.

Honestly GB is littered with years of your failed predictions. You'll have to forgive me if I'm a little hesitant to believe anything else you want to predict.

The filibuster was never meant to be the first tool used to cool the mob. And it has never been used like that throughout our nation's existence until the Republicans decided to use the system in unintended ways.

Fine, I don't care.

They're all flailing about because unlike a degenerate stock gambler, government is not playing with its own money, they're playing with yours and mine and they pick political, not economic winners.

The one thing these companies have in common is bundling campaign cash...

That my friend, is called "crony capitalism" something Democrats hated when Bush was in office (how often did we hear the magic word, "Haliburton?") and the OWS crowd is moaning about now, Washington picking the banks as winners.

No wonder WE'RE BROKE!!!

If there's not sufficient incentive (reward) for the degenerate stock gamblers of the nation to throw away their money on green, then the government should not be placing bets that they know are losers ...

You loot the private sector, strip every dollar of 40¢ for overhead, and then give the other 60¢ to your political base in order to revitalize the looted.

What's not to like about that plan?

The Senate was and the Senate works in mysterious ways...

So does the House.

Fucking voodoo...

Yeah those fucking evil dumbass Republicans who took this nation to war rather than allow crackers to own brothers...

Yeah, it takes ONE to TANGO!

Shit like this is why I think you need to seek professional help.

They're all flailing about because unlike a degenerate stock gambler, government is not playing with its own money, they're playing with yours and mine and they pick political, not economic winners.

It's part of the green energy program, meant to incentivize certain types of businesses. Nobody is saying it's without risk.

Meanwhile you support Cain's tax plan which is very much government picking winners and losers, isn't it? Would you like to discuss the political winners Republicans would like to see picked?

The market doesn't want it, and knows it's unrealistic with the present technology. They are way ahead of starry eyed liberals who think it is.

You guys are the same ones who predicted that we'd have hyper-inflation, stagflation, deflation, two double-dip recessions, and said that the stock market recovery from 6900 was nothing more than a dead-cat bounce.

So get back to me if they go under. Bookmark this thread or something.

You're so full of shit your eyes must be brown. We always have to schooll you like the class dunce. Read up on Byrd's 14 hour and thirteen minute filibuster of the Civil Rights Act.

Are you honestly suggesting that the filibuster was the first line of action against civil rights legislation?
