How's This For A Political Wet Dream?

WHAT IS BILL CLINTON UP TO?

There are no off-hand moments, no unconsidered spontaneous comments, and no random observations in the world of Bill Clinton. His tongue is entirely at the service of his ambition, each remark considered and calculated to achieve a specific goal. And right now, Bill Clinton’s prime ambition is to elect his wife president. Nothing else really matters to him. And Bill must be feeling the same vibe we do: That Obama may pull out.

So what’s he doing? Consider:

• He has written a book on how to “put America to work” and to heal the economy. It will come out in November and he will tour the country to tout it and promote its proposals.

• He dismissed Obama’s jobs and tax proposals – the centerpiece of his Administration as it enters an election – as “confusing” and stated his conviction that we should neither cut spending nor raise taxes at this time, directly contradicting both aspects of the president’s program.

• Asked if he would still like to see Hillary as president, he opines that he long ago concluded that she was “one of the brightest people of her generation” and that he has never had cause to vary that assessment.

• Two of Clinton’s favorite consultants – James Carville (1992) and Mark Penn (2008) both recently dumped on Obama’s campaign and his chances of winning. Carville advised Obama to “panic and fire a lot of people.” Penn compared Clinton’s centrist policies in 1996 with Obama’s embrace of “class warfare” and said the current president should learn from the previous Democratic one. These boys don’t talk about such stuff unless they get a green light from Chappaqua.

An observer less used to Bill’s ways might be driven to wonder what’s going on here. Isn’t Bill’s wife the first officer of Obama’s cabinet? And is not Obama the consensus nominee of the Democratic Party, battling for his political life? And does his re-election not hinge on his ability to sell his program for doing just what Clinton’s jobs book will discuss – turning the economy around?

There is only one conclusion possible to account for Bill’s extraordinary actions this week: That he believes that Obama may not run and he wants to promote Hillary’s candidacy in the event he drops out. Or, even more boldly: That he wants to undermine Obama’s ability to get re-elected so that he is forced to pull out for the good of his Party, opening the door to Hillary’s candidacy.

It is all the more remarkable that he should be saying this stuff when you consider that he would never do so without the express approval – if not prompting – of Mrs. Clinton herself! A seasoned politician like Bill Clinton does not criticize the economic program of his wife’s boss without her OK. Nor would he have worked for months on a book about the economy or planned a tour to promote it, without privately speculating on how it might help Hillary’s presidential ambitions.

And make no mistake about it: Obama may pull out. We recently asked a top Democratic strategist who said “if the situation in January is as bad as it is today, I think it is quite possible” that Obama will pull a Lyndon Johnson and bow out.

Perhaps Obama now appreciates what he got himself into when he named Hillary as his Secretary of State. At the time, we warned that this ménage-a-trois would work only as long as Obama was popular. We said that should he encounter rough sledding, he would find the Clintons to be potential rivals in his midst.

Obama’s base is collapsing. The Bob Turner victory in New York shows Jews are leaving him. Gallup reports his job approval among Latinos is down to 44% and Fox News says his approval among under 30 voters is also down to 44%. The collapse is so sudden and rapid that nobody has time to prepare for a primary challenge, least of all Hillary.

But, if Obama drops out – or is driven out by panicked Democratic Senators staring defeat in their own re-elections in the face – Bill is out there making sure Hillary is in the on deck circle swinging her bat.

Dick Morris: Dumbest Pundit in America

February 7, 2007: "Right now, neither Rudy nor Hillary has a front-runner’s lock, but they are clearly the man and woman to beat in their respective parties. If they hold their leads through Labor Day, my bet is that it will be all over."

January 23, 2008: "The more President Clinton begs black voters to back his wife, and the more they spurn her, the more the election becomes about race — and Obama ultimately loses."

August 26, 2008: "Now, when Hillary spends all of Tuesday night showing what a grievous omission leaving her off the ticket really was, the electoral consequences for Obama are likely to be horrific."

September 2, 2008: "Sarah Palin’s selection will end up as a big win for John McCain."

September 16, 2008: "McCain has opened up a decisive lead over Obama, actually using the Democrat’s articulateness against him."

October 28, 2008: "As Obama has oscillated, moving somewhat above or somewhat below 50 percent in all the October polls, his election likely hangs in the balance. If he falls short of 50 percent in these circumstances, a majority of the voters can be said to have rejected him. Likely a disproportionate number of the undecideds will vote for McCain."

April 25, 2011: "Trump will run as a Republican with a damn good chance of winning the nomination...My bet is [Mike Huckabee] runs and that he’s got a great chance to be the nominee….and the next president."

Personally, I don't think the Obama ego is capable of facing any such reality were it to become true:

Fmr. Clinton Adviser: 'Very Possible' Obama Will Bow Out of Presidential Race - For Now

In an interview with conservative radio icon Sean Hannity, former President Clinton adviser and campaign manager Dick Morris stated that, after speaking with a Democratic strategist, he thinks it is “very possible” that President Obama might acquiesce to requests from the Democratic leadership in Congress and bow out of the 2012 race, leaving the door open for him to return sometime in the future.

“I asked a top Democratic strategist the other day and he thought that it was possible that, in January, Harry Reid comes to Obama and says, ‘Look you cost us control of the House last year, you’re going to cost us control of the Senate this year. For the good of the party you have to step aside’” said Morris.

“And, then, (Obama) pulls a Lyndon Johnson, he says ‘I’m fighting to solve the recession, and problem is because of partisanship and my re-election people reject everything I say because of partisanship, so I’m going to not run for president and focus my full time attention on solving this recession’ and then go out popular,” Morris added.

The strategy proposed here is an interesting one. With his approval ratings at an all time low, Obama is looking at a very high likelihood of a defeat in the 2012 elections and forecasters, using the examples of the 2011 special elections in New York City and Nevada, have forecast a very high probability of losses across the nation for the Democratic Party because of Obama.

A withdrawal by President Obama, with a statement that the reason he’s bowing out is to solve the recession, would likely allow the Democratic Party to recover some of its popularity and allow the president to present himself as rising above the partisan fights in Congress with a higher goal in mind. This would help the Democrats to better portray the Republicans, and especially the Tea Party, as the stubborn, non-compromising party uninterested in truly solving the nation’s problems.

Morris added that he thinks that this strategy could also set up Obama for a presidential run in a later election.

“The twenty second amendment does not preclude non-consecutive terms, he is young, (he could) preserve himself as a possible candidate down the road” said Morris. “We’ve seen how Bill Clinton is much more popular now then he was when he was leaving office, same with Jimmy Carter.”

Intriguing as that possibility is, however, non-consecutive presidential terms have only happened once before in American politics, though they have been attempted by a few former presidents. The only president to successfully serve non-consecutive terms was Democrat Grover Cleveland who won election in 1884, lost in 1888, and won in 1892.

Billy pushing for a third term.

I think the blow came when bidders on the Wounded Warier Foundation poster, signed by all five living presidents, said they would have bid higher if the poster wasn't defaced with 0bama's signature.

You forgot the most important one...

August 23, 2008: “Hello Iowa and hello Chicago.” when bus loads of black voters from Chicago showed up to storm the caucus.

Voter fraud had more to do with Obama winning the primary over Hillary than anything else. You can bet your ass there is STILL a lot of bitterness harbored that a job in the administration didn't alleviate.

The last prediction is from this column: http://www.dickmorris.com/blog/comments-on-krauthammers-handicapping-the-2012-presidential-odds/

Morris has been playing one note for 4 years: Obama is doomed because white people hate him. Every once in a while he's right, like when he predicted the Democrats would be in trouble in 2010, but his problem is that in his world, the Democrats are always in trouble.

When you always say the same thing regardless of the facts (you had to be a complete idiot to still believe in late October 2008 that Obama would lose), you're just being a fool. Barring a sudden change in his health, there is absolutely no chance Obama isn't going to run for re-election. For Morris to say otherwise makes him look even more ridiculous than usual.

No, Kevin. You made the first contact to meet and then backed out. It's because you have a penis.

LOL

Hahahahahahaha.

;)

He even continues..... It seems that the only possible reason you would decide not to meet him is because you have a penis. I guess there is no way it could have anything to do with him being a ragging douche bag. But now he trolls me, thinking I am you, all because you broke his little heart.

But even funnier, is I posted a picture of my chest in another thread and he was the first one to open and comment. So maybe thinking you have a penis is a turn on for him?
