Poll: Obama Five Times Worse Than Carter on Economy
September 8, 2011

Two new polls today find that just one third of the public feels President Obama deserves re-election while five times more Americans think Obama has done a worse job fixing the economy than Jimmy Carter, the modern era's Herbert Hoover.

Washington Whispers contributor John Zogby tells us that his new polling is spirit-crushing for the depressed White House. "It was a very bad week for Barack Obama. Our polling shows his job approval at 39 percent and the percentage saying he deserves re-election at 33 percent, both the lowest of his term, while the percentage of voters saying the nation is on the wrong track reached a high since he took office at 75 percent," he said.

Those are pre-teamster war stats. :D

You can repeat the old demand-side mantra all you want but that doesn't change the fact that it doesn't work. It didn't work for Jimmy Carter and it won't work now. It is not stimulative, it doens't create new economic activity...

Just because you say demand-side economics doesn't work doesn't mean it doesn't work. Jimmy Carter also had a better job creation rate than any Republican, ever. Since at least when job creation statistics started being kept. Exactly how does that factor into your sage analysis?

Throwing money at play trains for the unions isn't going to help anyone and will further erode our economy and standards of living, you can't throw good money at programs that have little benefit except for a few campaign supporters.

This is the paranoid Catch-22 crap I was talking about. Republicans say they're fans of shovel-ready projects. Then when they're shown an Obama-led shovel-ready project, well it's just a union payoff. No matter what Obama does, he's wrong. Even when he does what you just said he should do.

I agree that we should continue to fund prosthetic limb replacements and other services for veterens. There are many other valuable programs too. I'm not advocating for the elimination of government, I just want to go back to the traditional level of spending in the 18-19% range, maybe another couple % higher until we can wrap up the wars.

Sure, me too. Show me what you'd cut to get there though. Tossing out numbers like this is meaningless without showing your math.

At the heart of it though, you want them to continue to fund your field. That's why you're so adamant about Obamacare, to keep the funding going for you. I can understand that and good luck with it. Nevertheless, for the health of the country we have to get spending under control one way or another.

Why is that "the heart of it"? My field is traumatic brain injury treatment for our wounded warriors. Our funding has been expanded regularly over the past decade because both parties want to help disabled vets. Furthermore the research we're performing is absolutely cutting edge and we've amassed over 60 publications in ten years. We're the furthest program from the chopping block.

And by the way, please tell me how "Obamacare keeps the funding going for me". We all know you have a profound misunderstanding of what health care reform actually is, but I gotta hear where you're coming from on this. Or is this just more lies and baseless assumptions on your part? I'll wait :)

Republicans should have a 20-point lead on Obama then. What's wrong?

all this from a man that has never had a real job! you go Merc
