Do you know Warfarin is rat poison?

I've had no adverse reaction to it & glad about that because it keeps my fistula working unlike the one on trhr upper side of my forarm that clotted out on me as did the others & this one has only needed a tune up a few times a year.

Does yours buzz? First time I went to take a pulse on someone who had one in their forearm, I got the shock of my life when this 'thing' buzzed under my fingers. I knew they were a dialysis patient, but I'd never felt it before.

Edit: Of course, if this is a rude or insensitive question, feel free to slap me down. I forget myself sometimes.

Hi Gil ... you changed the topic just when I was about to arrive with flowers for all the crook Aussies in this outpatient forum :rose::rose::rose::rose: :)

I won't add my own maladies to the list BUT WQ ... make sure they check Epstein-Barr by the more expensive method of examining the actual cells ... for us (ahem) older age-group (don't react, I mean non-teens) the blood lab test is highly unreliable ... misses 50% of glandular fever cases or delayed recoverers. I know this because I was inexplicably very unwell fortnight about for almost a year in the late 90s and the medics were at a loss until I got a switched on GP who knew about this and got the right test done (diagnosis confirmed!) If it's that one, treatment (or lack of) and management is the next hurdle !

AH but Byron we may talki about things but we just get on with what we need to do.
BANDIT's:heart: daughter recently had glandular fever, she wasn't a well girl (young adult) & being rural it took a bit of time to find her problem.

Happy Birthday & hope it's been a fun one for you.

Bugger! I don't want to speak ill of all police, but honestly, some of them are just attitude with a badge. Were you speeding badly?

Hmmm .... a little bit badly  but truly middle of nowhere ... overtook a van going variable speed and then I saw a vehicle in shadow on roadside and realised it might move into the lane so sped up to get back safely and throttled off ... then the vehicle's lights started flashing! :(
Ironic.... I had spent all day driving well below speed limit as conditions were icy.

First speeding fine in (an indecent # of) years' driving.

Thanks Gil ... yeah, it was a great one!
Sorry to hear that about Bandit's daughter ... rural? is she with you guys or in NZ? They seem really slack here with diagnosing it, yet it's so rife and pretty obvious. Relying on a poor test that misses half those with it seems bizarre.

Well, doesn't that suck? Ironic indeed.

I doubt there is to many questions ask on this thread that have ever offended any of us & your question is perfectly fine to ask.

YES it gives a fine buzz, friends girls were amazed feeling it & one said I have a bee in my arm LOL. If it ain't buzzing I'm in trouble & a vascath is such a pain in the arse as I have to go the get my dialysis at the hospital haemo ward, short hours there max of 12 hours a week & doing here with BANDIT's:heart: assistance, love & care we at the moment are doing 24 hours one week & 32 the next doing every second day, this has me felling great.

She is back in King Country now where BANDIT:heart: lived till we met.

There was a law in NSW that allowed speeding to overtake then as you did back off but not sure if it still exists now.

Ah right! Backs up what I'm saying then. Te Kuiti, Benidale or Taumarunui .... hmmmm ... hard to get good medical attention way beyond the "black stump" boundary ;)

Oh, gotcha. I don't know that I'd ever really thought about what would happen if one didn't buzz, because they always did. Can you tell I worked with very few dialysis patients?:D The only things I remember are, never take a blood pressure on the arm with the fistula and generally take your pulse on the opposite arm also.

I'm so... I don't know how to put it... impressed, that you guys are managing this at home. I didn't know it was an option for people and what increased freedom you have, to do it at home and fit it around your schedule. As you say, you can manage yourself better at home, with more dialysis, which leaves you feeling better. And kudos to Bandit for learning how to do it all. It would be very daunting for some people.

It is very daunting for BANDIT:heart:, she is my Wonder Woman & a blessing in my life.

No use being negative, I want to live as much as I can, how I can. :D
The only way to do it. None of us can see our tomorrow.
We have a few dialysis patients here. They need to travel 1 1/2 hours each way to hospital to get it done and that wears them down.
One lady here wanted to set up home dialysis so a family member could come for a holiday but our town water comes straight from the river, no filter, with chlorine added in varying levels.
Apparently it wasn't suitable, so they couldn't stay here. Lots of debate about what to do but nothing happens quickly, if ever.

Admire the commitment that you and bandit have for each other. It restores some faith an the human race.:rose:

Hey Byron999, Sorry to hear about your birthday ticket.

Last one I got was a biggie. Had car on auto pilot at 100, but youngest cherub was telling jokes that had me in hysterics and I didn't notice limit fell to 90. Then we went up a hill and the autopilot still eccelorates (spelling? doesn't look right) and I was laughing so much I wasn't paying attention. Normally I would hit the brake a little. Then I saw the front of the car poking out of the bushes. Gone.
Smallest cherub was still acting the goat even had the copper laughing but i still got a ticket. Then the inevitable breath test with the have you been drinking question. More jokes from LC and a study of the breathaliser. Everyone is doubled over. Copper reckoned he's never had anyone laughing while they ot a ticket. No-one else has the littlest cherub.
They're here now and crack me up all the time.

I've been asking the people who select the types of dialysis units they have here to at least trial NxStange here as it does freely allow travel, the unit it self is roughly the size of an esky & people with these units are always off on travel adventures with supplies made to destinations along the way for them to pick up, cruizes are also popular whith the NxStange users. As it is although much easier for my/us being able to go away for more than 2 days would be fantastic.

I have a fresenius machine which is so big it's only good as a fixed unit.
