Socialism

Actually, Jenny I'm a bit disappointed with your contribution to this thread. Thank your luck star that I'm not the gestapo here or you'd be shipping out to the Gulag on the first truck tomorrow asap....after we had a, ahem, little debriefing in my basement office overnight with lieutenant Igor and his magic pliers....he he he.

Btw, the cartoons were magnificent!

Now, there's an interesting spin. "If da gubnan't done be gibbin' us da money, dey mus be da gustapo."

How about "Da mo dey gib ya, da mo dey be stickin der nose in yo biznes?"

Ishmael

What's amused me about this thread is the way if someone says "The rightwingers use the word to mean whatever they want," the assumption is that person is defending socialism.

If I say "You're using a very broad definition of socialism. I don't think that's what it means," I am NOT saying "I think socialism is a good thing."

You people understand that, right?

well, you gave me nothing to spin

or you adjust your skills to keep yourself valuable. don't make the same mistakes as others.

remember, those who stand still get left behind!

a job for life, well that is just a fantasy

Wow, I'll have to tell my 67 year old friend that her job of 45 years (which the owner told her she could keep as long as she wanted it) is all a dream.

so you are saying that a job is for life?

how so?

now, on the flip side, if she was doing a great job why on earth would anyone want to fire her? yes, I'm sure one could find someone less expensive but there is costs associated with training and getting the new person up to speed.

now, if we take a look at those government workers in that poor country in CA where the city manager was earning close to a million dollars a year....but this is for another story

What exactly are you trying to sound like.... I mean, other than an idiot, which you obviously can't help.

Loyalty is only for workers.... corporations have brainwashed people (and spent billions on propaganda) to believe that one-way streets are the way business works.

If workers treated their jobs the way that their jobs often treat them, there'd be no more business.

No you said that a job for life is a fantasy.
Nice try worming your way out of it.

People can work in jobs for a lifetime. Going by your participation in this thread you want to live in a world where it's only about the money. Not satisfaction in a job well done and not satisfaction in the act of doing the job.

and I stand by that. just cuz you got a job, doesn't mean you should keep that job for life.

look at all the unemployed mainframe programmers, why is that? cuz they needed to update their skills as the world moved to the PC

like I said before, those that stand still get left behind

The job belongs to the person that writes the pay check. It you are a wage slave you own nothing, you're a place holder in an organizational chart. If you want something that you can call "your" job, a place that you can take ownership of, go start your own business, that's job security.

not if you listen to our left wing nut jobbers, the employer (aka person risking his or her own captial has no rights) and we must protect the person.

power to the people, long live entitlements

No it's not. When people stop buying your service or your product...you're out of a job.

I find it funny how the left, and elements of society put down the person who is willing to risk his or her money. Let’s face it the media has demonized many entrepreneur's

as a society, have have moved from a kick butt and take name culture, to a sit on your ass to collect the obama welfare check

And herein lies the truth about capitalism...

if everyone "started their own business" there would be no economy.

Actually they don't demonize entrepreneurs, they idolize them. I wonder what you are watching on TV. The idea of the poor boy growing up and making millions is an age old story that the media loves to exploit. The media worships capitalism with a vengeance.

The "job" belongs to both, or none. It is a contracual agreement between the employer and the employee. This can include a job security clause for the employee, and in many places this is required by law.

are you trying to be silly?

that is like saying, everyone loves M&M's

what is your point? not that I expect you to have one

and if you don't like your boss, don't expect that person to change. work around it, xfer to a new dept, or find a new job

maybe Fox & CNBC appreciate Capitalism, MSNBC - well they use to want more obamaism but they are starting to come around.

most of the media are socialism in nature, they do not appreciate or worship self employed people. they want more government

what are you watching, or please pass the drugs (that you are on)

No it's not. When people stop buying your service or your product...you're out of a job.

Then all my employees will be, well, unemployed. I'll be the last to go.

This truly ranks among your most ignorant posts.

Self employment is job security? Tell that to the 80% of start ups that fail within the first year, knobend.

that is the dream for many, to create the next Facebook, or Google.

wonder how easy it is to a start up in France, or the UK?

then comes the first big step in any company, that first employee.

what are the steps to employe someone, lets say ... in France?
