another political year is coming for USA...

Sorry JBJ but that is just wishful thinking on your part. The rest of us know you are a troll and only here to stir shit, ice cream maker or not.

I use what you gimme to work with. Cant make a silk thong outta STELLA crotch hair.

Colddeisel, I don't judge the success of a forum by how fast it moves. I judge it by how good the threads are. Fifty trash threads in a day? That's a trash forum. We got one, and we've been turning into one.

I didn't get threads moved to GB-- you can thank the events in Tuscon for that. Evidently, the link between hate talk and a bad environment for sex-- suddenly made sense to Laurel.

The AH is going the same way as the other authorly Boards, ie. Story feedback and Editors etc, it's dying. If you had a bit more imagination Stella you might try to combine those three Boards into one
Minus the adhoms, it's a suggestion for Laurel.

One important reason why it's dying though, is because nobody bothers to come here to start writerly threads. They look at all the shitstirring and leave for absolutewrite.

Nag, Nag, Nag, Nag, Nag, ad infinitum. It's been sour grapes from you ever since you lost the vote... convincingly. And I don't believe you are about getting rid of political threads. You are about censoring political opinions contrary to your own.

You've had that piece of software for ages which you can censor your own view but what you really want Stella is to censor everyone else.

Having said that, however, you obviously haven't worked it out that you have in one sense already won. Ever since you started getting threads moved to the General Board, the number of posts on the AH has fallen steadily. A couple of years back you had to get onto the second page before you could find a "yesterdays post." Now there is usually 3 days posts on the first page and sometimes 4. The AH used to have about 30% of the activity of the GB and was one of the more popular Boards. Since you have been campaigning its been overtaken by both GLBT and BDSM.

The AH is going the same way as the other authorly Boards, ie. Story feedback and Editors etc, it's dying. If you had a bit more imagination Stella you might try to combine those three Boards into one because one undeniable fact of the internet is that when traffic falls off, it doesn't come back without drastic action.

Colddiesel is right for the right reasons. People don't leave because of what some fat old fascist might shout after them. They leave because they didn't sign up to be bossed around by a wannabe police squad.

On behalf of fat, friendly, frothing fascists I say VERDAD is correct. Its the self-appointed chaperones no one likes.

STELLA? If your theory is correct Laura wouldnt delete my veggie threads. They go straight to the dumpster. Maybe she's phobic for cucmbers. THAT or one of her lil helper bees do it. Cuz Laura preaches free speech, right?

Besides, all the writerly threads are stillborn cuz every writer here already knows it all. Ask PILOT.

I'd say both reasons have been driving people away. Would-be writers leave because of the fat old fascists. I complain about the fascists and drive off... who? people who want to be fascists but don't have a thick enough skin for the job, i suppose. unfortunately, of course that leaves the worst of the fascists right here. It's Darwinian process in action.

Well, here's the thing. This forum will become a steaming neocon cesspit in about... three month's time, as American politics heats up. I have politics that I could be posting here, but I don't. If you, Verdad, really feel that I'm the wanna-be police, I hereby relinquish that role. I'll bring my politics to the table. I've got two or three posts in me per day.

*shrug*

You know what I think, jimmy? I think she doesn't like you. I think you nauseate her. Even a free-speech practitioner has her limits. You've passed them. In almost any other forum you would have been banned years ago, and you're making some mighty big assumptions about this one-- it is, still, a single-owner site. She could be tempted into a spot of hypocrisy, any day now. She has that right.

I don't ever report your gardening threads. I don't pay attention to them, but I'm happy for you that you have cucumbers. Nope-- I think Laurel is sick and tired of you, yourself, shitting all over the AH.

I'll keep nudging her till she does. I wanna see if her conviction is bullshit, as I suspect it is. I'll peck at her shell till I reach her core. Will she take her ball and go home? I think so.

The conviction that fools and fucktards must be tolerated-- on a privately owned porn forum? It is bullshit.

Dude. it's her forum. She is home. You're the visitor.

In any case we all win, so keep it up.

I understand all that; and everyone talks a good game. Its her ball. I get it. She likely believes the moonbeams she sprinkles her world with. But I sense her convictions are eggshell thin, and pride goes overboard before her fall.

You would have been gone long ago if her convictions were eggshell thin.

You should keep on jackhammering through that shell of hers, though. As TXrad says, we'll all breathe cleaner air if you succeed.

Sarah Palin made the first crack, though-- not you.

Stell, if it's solutions and not power games we're looking for, it's pretty simple. Start threads about anything that interests you. If I'm around and if I've got something to add, I'll happily see you there. Likewise if I start a thread, or anyone else. If someone tries to hijack it with garbage? They can try. How well they succeed depends on whether we (each of us) prefer taking baits to doing our thing.

The forum might be on a downward spiral that can no longer be stopped even so. If anything can change it, however, it's not further policing. It's different relating. Living and letting others live. Giving other posters, new and old, a reason to believe they might get a reasonably rewarding exchange here and not "whydidyapostithere, anyway?" If there's truly no interest in a topic, it will sink by its own self.

More than ever, the forum is suffering not from too much of something but from too little of something else. If that something is still there to be coaxed out at all, relaxing, not pressuring, will bring it out.

Well, anything I posted right now would be about politics, for instance;

The recall effort in Wisconsin

The elderly gay couple who would like to be married before one of them succumbs to alzheimers

The Koch brothers,

The about-to-expire ban on uranium mining in the Grand canyon,

The toxic effects of triclosan in those germicidal soaps that are so popular right now

the cost of these useless wars and what it's done to my neighborhood

Boehner's pet project to publicly fund private religious schools

Sean Duffy complaining that he struggles to make ends meet on nearly $200,000 a year congressional salary.

But-- I don't like to see political threads here, so I don't post those threads.

I quit comin' around 6 years ago because there were too many political threads. Does that count?

You joined in 03, Raphy? Yeah... it was a kinder, gentler, more writerly forum back then.

Slower, too-- which is certainly a part of why. There wasn't enough content to attract trolls.

Well, in 2006 it was a paranha pit of the "in crowd" (which is what some of you really want back) and put downs. So much for good 'ole days. It's not really the political stuff; it's the deadbeats who have nothing invested in the forum and are only here because they are so zany they'd been tossed out of everywhere else.

JBJ has made it clear on this thread that he's here to destroy. Others are here to indoctrinate--although we all know how well that works out.

Yeah. I joined in '03, hooked up with whisp in '04, we hung around for a bit, but neither she nor I were ever that big into politics. The constant arguments got boring, especially when we became so inundated with them that they started pushing real threads off the front page.

I wasn't around in '06 - but as for any comments about the AH having an in-crowd? Course it does. Every community does, and everyone's part of a clique. Human nature, can't do anything about it.

Besides, people only complain about cliques when they're not part of them.

Sure you can. You can pretend that the dysfunction is because of political threads. :D
Or, you can complain about imaginary in-crowds and ignore the real dysfunctions.

SR got off on the wrong foot with a few women back when he joined. He's never gotten over the meanness of it all. How dare they each have similar opinions!

The dysfunction of cliques? Hell no. That's just a social phenomenon. Birds of a feather flock together, and all that.

Besides, the discussion about cliques on internet forums (or, really, any social community) is worthy of a completely different topic in of itself. I wasn't making any allusions between the existence of an in crowd and the increasing number of political threads during the 03->05 period.

You did that all by yourself.

I never pretended that the dysfunction was caused by political threads. All I said was that the increasing number of political threads during that period was a large reason why my wife and I hung out here less.

Pretending that I made a link between the political threads and AH cliques is logical fallacy at best.

Yeah, especially since their similar opinions were to work over another new poster (not me), in a long line of working over new posters--oh, yeah, and in challenging me to a vote off of our realitive writing abilities--with their friends as the judges. :D

But why do we have to drag all of this out again just to satisfy your control issues, Stella?

I've posted up the line what I think should be done with the AH--and it doesn't include an impossible ban on political exchanges/topics. I'll let you do your seasonal whining now about everyone not do what you want them to do.

As far as I'm concerned, you could start by not being a parasite yourself and posting stories to Literotica to justify being on the AH at all.

Personally, I don't disagree most political threads are dull. Partisan garbage abounds; posters whose commentary is worth reading are rare.

It's no money out of my (or anyone's) pocket if others enjoy topics I find dull, though, and plenty of posters demonstrably do—and I don’t just mean political.

So long as they grant others the same, I don't think they're doing anything unseemly. They're socializing in a way they enjoy, pursuing topics that are on their minds, with other willing participants—as people do, and as writers do too, after a day spent pecking on the keyboard. With people of good will, depending on your interests, it's no better or worse than talking about adjectives, cute kittens, or huge cocks. With people of ill will, you can't do anything anyhow.

My idea of a fun, literate, stimulating, adult place is one where you can bring anything from Middle East to enemas and expect someone to run away with it. I believe all efforts to trim down that range have hurt this place.

How's that been working out for you these past few years TE? Me, not so well, and I'm not ashamed to say so.

Me either. I have alienated one too many people here I consider friends. My views may differ from theirs, but we can agree to disagree and let it go at that. I'm willing to start fresh and relegate politics to it's own forum. Oddly enough, in most RL conversations it's best to avoid religion, politics and sex to keep things amicable. Here, we can talk about sex, which trumps the first two anyway. ;)

And call me Tom, Stella. :D
