I cannot say how the admins structured the moderator duties either. Some sites are more restrictive than others on what mods can and cannot do. I am simply saying what the software does by default.

The point is, a moderator cannot edit a thread and reflect the original poster doing it. The edit will clearly show the mod's actions.
