My friendship with Ginny has none of this in it. None of my personal interactions with her had any tinge of racism and I don't think that it's at the core of her being. But yeah, this is racist and she's not denying it.

I do know she didn't make racism an agenda. Ginny's mostly been about sex and humor. If that's changed, that's a damned shame.

I have lots of southern racist relatives that I've learned are complete human beings, of whom racism is a small part, and often part of what they were taught from their cribs. I get to disagree or not hold a conversation on the topic, or leave the room. My family is half Yankee and half Daughters of the Confederacy and I would have had to disown half of my family if I refused to speak to racists. Then I'd also have to disown the other half for being unreasonable and quick to judge without getting all the facts.

There's more to a person than this.

Re:Karen Krapft vs. Ginny, I don't think you can do a proper apples-to-apples comparison.

Ginny had the one nasty racist screed to her credit, while Krapft has a long documented history of railing against "Sambos", "subhumans" and "untermensch".

The really sick thing is that this racism is part of the appeal these women have to a certain subset of guys here (specifically Miles and the Vettebigot).

There are plenty of reasons to put just about everyone in this thread on ignore...half of them are.

I could have refused to speak to DCL because he rabidly despises and attempts to run down anyone who professes any faith in...well...faith.

But he's got other things to say on other subjects. He's probably one of the only people here who will get an obscure Pippin joke. And that counts.
