Here in Florida we have a few Latino Republicans. They don't, and wouldn't stand for this stuff.
 
This isn't a strictly Mexican immigration issue.

There are wealthy Chinese flying in to have their babies to circumvent oppressive birth restrictions.

The ease of travel makes the antiquated amendment practically toothless.

Because it's a part of the Constitution until another Amendment is passed which affects, restricts, or nullifies it.

Says right in the 14th Amendment that Congress can enforce the amendment through appropriate legislation.

Enforce, not add to or take away from, the provisions laid out in the Amendment itself.

You think that congress can just add in a law that specifies "except for those born of illegal aliens" or "The children of illegal aliens are not subject to the citizenship rights afforded in the 14th Amendment" and leave it at that?

You're splitting hairs and insisting that repealing an amendment by passing another is the same as changing the original amendment, which is not possible at all. Unless of course the whole Constitution thing doesn't much matter to you.

It didn't seem to hinder our last President too much.

The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

Maybe the new Congress can get up the balls to explore the possibility of making an exception in the case of illegal aliens:

As Republican members of Congress press for changes to the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, preventing automatic citizenship for babies born to illegal immigrants, opponents insist the debate is not really about babies.

Instead, they say it is about politics and votes – not fixing the immigration system.

Still, the debate could resonate in Texas, where not only 1.5 million illegal immigrants are estimated to reside but at least 60,000 babies are added to their households annually.

Oh, bother. I'm not the one splitting hairs, here.

Repealing, limiting, changing... another Amendment can do any of those things.

One Amendment could delete the whole Bill of Rights.

The first ten Amendments would remain in the text, of course, but their effect in terms of law would be null. Likewise, there are parts of the original Constitution that are now of no effect due to Amendments.
