You can talk about McCain and Pailin on the ticket…just like republicans can talk about this little notion. What would have happened if there was no technology boom? I’m guessing the Clinton years would have been slow growth and painful for the middle class. My point is this, democrats tend to forget about business! Business is what made Clinton years feel like a party…well that and a blue dress

The only thing that will make substantive cut in spending (>10%) are changes to entitlement programs, and best you can hope for there is reductions in the rate of increase to below the cost of living. Medical care is especially bad in that regard.

The recently enacted health care legislation is going to be affected by the same market dynamic that is affecting Medicare and Medicaid; it's only a matter of time until it, too, starts sucking down more costs than can be covered by any reasonable tax increase.

If the lame duck Democrats had any conscience, they'd take that on after the expected massacre in November. But no, they'll try for their pet projects instead.

Doctors Threaten to Pull Out of Texas Medicaid


Cuts to fees paid doctors in the state health care program for low-income Texans is raising fears that already declining physician participation will fall further.

The Dallas Morning News reports the health care and insurance industries fear a 1 percent Medicaid fee cut scheduled for Sept. 1 will be the first in a series. That's as state leaders order state agencies to cut their next two-year budgets by 10 percent because of an expected $18 billion revenue shortfall.

About 3.3 million poor and disabled Texans depend on the Medicaid program for health care. However, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, which administers the program, says fewer than a third of the state's 48,700 practicing doctors participate in the program.

Some current participants limit the number and kind of patients they accept.

I think there was a chink in the armor as gibbs made a comment that the democrats might lose the house this fall. Granted, we will see some spin as the democrats start to lose power….obama wants republicans to come back into power…this way obama’s failed ideas can be blamed on bush, I mean republicans.

A recent study indicated that the long term health care costs for wounded Iraq war veterans could range from $350 billion to $700 billion.[14] Size if the stimulus: a little under 800 billion.
