New Poetry Recommendations

Thanks, all. I'm glad to see that I still have a little creativity let in me. I only recently started writing again after a 3 year hiatus (also known as law school--which has a tendency to drown creative impulse). Also, thanks to whomever mentioned this thread in the comments on one of my poems. If not for him/her, I never would've known about this thread.

I'll make sure to check here, now and then, for inspiration; possibly even for a critiquing community. As for the title of "To Mom," I realize it's weak, haha. But, it was a gift for mother's day. I think that, until it eventually morphs into something more introspective and exact, I'd have trouble pinpointing exactly what it's about.

I enjoyed fridayam's The Penny Bridge, West Float. Also there are some other lit regulars posting in New Poems. Check it out and see what you think.

PG, I second the nod on this poem, and would not have read it if it weren't for your review hitting my email in box. Please, continue reviewing.

Folks, forgive this post here, but I openly encourage these reviews and hope to see more. They always keep me coming back for a look-see. Life is hectic, and these reviews remind me to smell the roses.

I found some interesting poems over in New Poems you might want to check out. Usually I'm not big on BDSM poems, but I have to say that the repetition in this one was effective.

I also recommend NeonSubtlety's poem Word Charity, though I felt sorry for the subject of the poem. greenmountaineer's narrative is almost balladish in A Road is a Road is a Road. And seannelson is especially evocative in Grass High which was my favorite this morning. Picked my mood right up.

There are two extraordinary new poems by sandyb that deserve to be read:
Campus Cougar and The Doom That Came to Texas . She is such a fine and erotically challenging poet. Also look at Devil Teach Me which is a worthy effort.

How
has this poet gone unmentioned before - I prefer to think she has been and I just missed it. Thank you, fridayam, for turning to her page, her writing is good, prolific and, as you say, erotic to a degree.

Here are some interesting poems over in New Poems you might want to check out. I enjoyed No Need to Explain by anglosextantyen4u, fragments and all. Also up is Ninianne's Viewing His Etchings which may look familiar to some of you who read/follow the challenge threads here. Sweet Oblivion has a sexy little sonnet in That and there are other poems you may want to peruse. These are just a few recent ones that stood out for me.

Chip Butty's The Shape of the thing and Sean Nelson's Ode to Perseverence seem to be the best from the last couple of days.

Midnight Ride was a really fun project that took months.

It goes without saying that Paul Revere's Ride inspired my poem. I strived to match rhyme schemes, sometimes thinking that Longfellow MIGHT have been tipsy while writing. :)

I enjoyed the work tremendously and posted it here in the hopes that others will enjoy also.

Thanks for coming!

thankyou for suggesting we read your piece; i'm sure people will enjoy it. however, are there no other poems today you would recommend as well as your own? ;)

I actually found lots of great work today on the new poetry page. But didn't think anyone actually READ this thread anymore as active as it's been this month.

friskyhippie submitted my 2 favorites of the day.

Blow Job turned me on, which is always welcome.

Naughtybunny submitted 3 dark pieces that made me stop and think. Thank you for those deep, heartfelt emotions!

Have a Beautiful Day!

Good to see you back again. Not many of us could write so much fun into 140 odd lines. I went back and read some of your old poems... had an enjoyable hour or so. :)

I made a comment on the poem but for some reason it isn't working.

Thanks! As an attention whore, it is GOOD to be noticed...
