I miss the fitness threads and the fitness Doms!

glad you're feeling better :rose:

I lost 1.5lbs last week, so now happily back on track :D I've just put Biggest Loser on for the wii and started on the beginner training plan. Am now knackered, but it needs doing, I can't stay this out of shape and have the life I want.

Homburg - Sir's BP hovers around the 140-150/80 mark, His doctor is happy for Him to keep it around that so His fistula keeps going. He's actually gone from being on 3 different BP meds to none at all, mainly because of the extra hours of dialysis we can do at home.

As for me, before I started the gym my BP was 140/90. After losing over 6kg and getting a lot fitter, the last time it was measured it was 125/75 :) My resting heart rate has dropped from over 80bpm to 66bpm. I still get the fast increase in heart rate when I do hard cardio (usually during the boxing class!) but it drops back quicker now.

I've had quite a few health checks over the last few months. I had my heart checked out because of the fast increase, it is ok it is just something my body does and always has done. I had an MRI to check my brain for aneurysms (family history) and a colonoscopy and a CT (also because of a family history), plus the usual female health checks.

I turn 52 in October and I believe I am healthier than I was at 30 :)

Anybody else on the other end of the spectrum? I'm five under at the best of times, twenty under at the worst. I was declined at the blood center Saturday because my blood pressure was a whopping 80/65.

:(

Nope. MY doctor tells me I have the best blood pressure in Canada, lol.

Not my best lift ever. I had some trouble with depth on a rep or two, but got good depth otherwise. To be honest, I was nervous going in. I've been having BP trouble lately, and heavy squats and BP spikes go hand in hand. I could've probably popped another rep or two, but I was afraid to push. We'll see what my BP looks like on monday when I pull.

Current BP - 135/79! That's a hell yeah.

This is small potatoes compared to many on this board but I've been going for walks every afternoon with my girl. She's going through her first break up.

:rose:

Homburg~ Yay for the BP :D

FurryFury~ Sorry to hear that, but exercise will help, especially if your weather is as good as ours at the moment.

I had to do 18mins of Yoga (which I've never done before) yesterday. Bloody hell that was harder than I expected.

8 miles on the bike this morning, until my back and knee said I was done. I did stop periodically to see what junk people were trying to get rid of, and ended up with 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', 'The Producers', and 'Kentucky Fried Movie'. More movies to sit and watch and eat to instead of going for another bike ride.

Thanks! The weather is all over the map here but good atm!

Yoga can kick ass. Good for you!

1) Daily exercise of any sort is not small potatoes.

2) What you are doing with your daughter is good stuff, and thus not small potatoes.

"Kentucky Fried Movie" Is both awful and absurdly funny simulataneously.

Took MIS riding today on her new bike. It was the first time she'd really felt comfortable on a trail. Admittedly, it was a reeeeally easy trail, but she still had a great time.

Did some riding yesterday too. Wow, sore, ugh. We're going to call it recovery work, but, oooh, not fun.

Should've been deads today, but our cycle got screwy due to LB's foot injury and we need to get back on track. We did squats for the previous cycle on friday and I'm just not up to doing them again. So today was bench instead.

I knew this was not a top set effort when I was doing it. This weekend was really rough, and I don't feel recovered worth a damn. Getting the weight up was enough. Getting it up a lot was just not gonna happen.

Feet-supported pull-ups - 13x1, 8x1

Push-ups - did some, whee

I'm wondering if bumping the weights up to reflect the new max lifts was a mistake. It might have been better to keep handling the sub-optimal stuff, even if we didn't know it was precisely sub-optimal. Have to talk it over with LB.

So much for all that self control. However - I have bought a combo mtn. road bike this weekend. My steel frame 3 speed garage sale Raleigh was getting in the way of actually using a bike regularly. Good riddance.

I am going to EVENING yoga. A studio is near me once more!

That's some pretty good stuff to me. :)

Me: I'm having a lot of trouble getting to where I want to exercise each day. I'm glad I did once I've completed it. I feel good about doing it but I haven't gotten to the point again where I feel like something is missing if I don't work out.

Because I am not bright, I also went biking last night. Did about 45 minutes worth of around the neighbourhood rambling with MIS. And even though it was rambling around, not the faster paced stuff I'm used to, it was still 45 minutes or so of riding. Whee.

Yay for yoga! Enjoy.

Riding is riding. Good for you for getting out there!

Last night L and me and a friend hiked up to Pulpit Rock. Fragging hard hike (300m of elevation in 1.6km) but amazing view at the top.

I'd like to start doing this one two or three times a week, pushing my time until I can actually run it like I used to do with the Grouse Grind back in Vancouver.

We'll see. The cough continues to haunt and I'll be seeing the doc again this week. Fuck, it's been like 4 months now.

OMG, hello unlimited monthly yoga pass for only 115?

I have never seen pricing on yoga. Is $115/month good?

Considering that I did back squats on friday, then rode saturday, and again sunday, and benched et al yesterday, then rode again, I'm probably pushing it.

That's a serious climb, and a lovely view.

Four months is way too long.

As an aside:

Current BP - 134/83

I'm cool with those numbers.

I think you're all doing great, I love to have a nosy at what you're all doing :p

I lost 1lb this week, so 1 stone (14lbs) in 12 weeks. I could do better, but the crappy thyroid makes it slow going.

Weight loss of 1-2 lbs per week is fantastic and very healthy. Don't be discouraged. I'm guessing you're hypothyroid? I am, as well. Have been for 27 years. Have you had your levels tested recently?

Yup, been hypo for 10 years (though the first 3 I was untreated, they failed to spot 106 and 10.2 tsh as abnormal ). Most recent was 5.86, but if I up my meds, I'll have a seizure (which I only ever get when changing thyroxine levels, but I kinda need to keep my driving license)

Going rates here are 15-18 a class drop in. It's *very* good.

1 hr 15 min basic hatha yoga today. I may be a sedentary fat butt again, but the instructor said my form was excellent still and I could keep up with the flow classes just fine, this is good news. I still think I might make myself stick with the basic classes for a week to polish form a bit.

I'm thinking basic, or vinyasa flow tomorrow - it's a little less hot after the rain tonight.

Oh and FloggingMolly, I put my discipline back on my ass, it's 160 again. I admit when I go astray too.

Netz~ I bet the yoga gets it off hon. I'm doing very basic yoga on the Wii, but given that I can't touch my toes (not for the size of my stomach, just because I haven't been able to since I was 4), I'm not very successful.

Hmmm...pizza was a bad idea... oh well, back on track tomorrow

I'm having that problem too. My girl didn't feel up to it the past two days.
