do we have any sa members on the thread?
i'm going to be in adelaide for 3 nights next weekend, and am looking for things to do while there... any info appreciated as i'm totally unfamiliar with adelaide (except passing thro in the car!)

Hiya WQ,

I haven't been to Adelaide for a while but I don't think much has changed. If you have some spare time it is worth going to a place called Harndorf. Not a big place but they have a great cake shop and a german beer hall.

OMG!

i just had the phone call every parent of a teen girl dreads....
she's not my 'baby' girl any more.

i'm not sure how i feel right now - part of me is really glad she feels able to talk to me about just about anything (as the ph call proves) and the other part of me feels like the world just shifted 2 feet to the left without me!

aaaaarrrrrgggghhh...

Pretty much the day that Australia fully became a nation

In WW1 at a place called Gallipolli (on the turkish peninsular) thousands of Australian and New Zealand soldiers (Called ANZACS - stood for Australian & New Zealand Army Corps) stormed ashore at a place now called ANZAC Cove (landed in the wrong spot) on 25 April 1915.
They were met with a murderous hail of enemy fire - but still managed to gain ground and held onto it untill the British generals (who fucked it all up in the first place) decided it was time to leave.
The whole reason for the landing was to try and put an early stop to the war by invading Turkey and then attacking Germany from behind

So every April 25 Australia and our New Zealand brothers and sisters stop to remember our fallen heroes not only in WW1 but in other conflicts around the world that Aussies and Kiwi's have been in, right up until and including present day

Hi {{{{{Webbo}}}}}}

Thank you so much for filling me in. :)

Hope your weekend did turn out to be a good one and hoping your Monday was Marvelous.

Hey Kayte :rose:

Yep I think that's when I first remember seeing him on TV when I was a teenager..I also have a friend who likes that clever humour as well. One of my fav's was his uncle (I think it was) who invented a soft drink 5 up then 6 up, then died of a broken heart no knowing how close he was. But I guess the all time fav for me was when he announced that his family had celebrated the 103rd birthday of a family member...to loud applause of the audience..only then to tell them "unfortunately he couldn't make it...he died when he was 29"...got everyone with that one.

{{{{{Elfie}}}}}} That is marvelous. Thank you so much for the laugh! Hope you are doing well sweetie. :rose:

Kayte, Rest  I've forgotten what it's like to get a "normal" rest AKA sleep as it has been more than a decade since I had a 8 hour sleep patern & class 4 hours a good sleep.

I've only had a few trips through Adelaide & last one was in the mid 90s with little memories of the places I visited while there so no ideas from me on things to see, as for things to do i'm sure you have plenty of things in mind for that.

it'll be nice to get away from all the hullabaloo here - daughters! who'd have 'em!!!
(more drama's with the chickee - especially now her dad knows about how far she's actually gone  now she's threatening to run away.... )

BANDIT:heart: is just as wonderful as ever & now we have all the good results back from the tests she has had a big worry gone for us.
BANDIT's:heart: daughter is fantastic & her only down fall is she dosen't keep intouch with mum who worries about her.

Daughters can be quite the pain & mine is in her 30s now but stlll GRRRR, she gets in touch saying this is all driving me crazy what can I do then when I tell her I get blocked, ignored etc.:(
