I can't really speak for the world.

But, um, I don't know who Minmei is. Or any of those people.

Like I said, I can't speak for the world, and I'm not so arrogant to assume that everyone in the world shares my life experience and opinions and fanwankeries.

I just think that adaptation of franchises from one form into another, from one medium into another, is an extremely involved process, and casting should put more focus on the heart of a character than their appearance. If you can get both, that's a major coup, but the former should supersede the latter.

Well, Mars at least LOOKS like the Asian girl she is supposed to be....but a Jupiter without tits is like a MASCULINE Endymion.....erhm << >>

Ideally, it should be both. Absolutely.

But if you have to have one and not the other, it should be heart first and looks second.

I dunno if my fangirl Venn diagram overlaps with yours sufficiently to make an analogy we'll both understand (are you talking about "Sailor Moon," now?) but... Rebecca Gayheart certainly had the looks to be Inara, but they dropped her like a rock for Morena Baccarin because Gayheart didn't have Inara's soul. Totally the wrong energy.

And, thankfully, that bitch never got her claws into "Firefly."

Don't get me wrong. It's a good series. But the medium of anime could do far more for it in terms of visuals. Only so much can be done without a Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen-sized budget
