Tomorrow Maine voters will vote to approve or defeat the same-sex marriage law enacted by the legislature in May.

Five other states have legalized same-sex marriage — Iowa, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. But all did so via legislation or court rulings, not through a popular vote. By contrast, constitutional amendments banning gay marriage have been approved in all 30 states where they have reached the ballot.

A poll released on Tuesday showed that the vote in Washington on Referendum 71, the measure that asks voters whether to approve or repeal the state’s expanded domestic-partnership law, is going to be extremely close, with a narrow margin of respondents saying they would pass the measure.

Might be some unhappy Usual Suspects tomorrow night. I mean, to hear them tell it sane-sex marriage is a slam-dunk across America.

Ya think? California is among those 30 States where the public has rejected Gay Marriage, if I recall correctly.

The other thread, equating the sex life of clams as applicable to the human state of affairs, has gone beyond the ridiculous to the sublime, for sure.
