Why don't you want HealthCare (medical insurance) reform?

It will drive down corporate profit. And we all know where that leads. Yes, increased prices at Wal-Mart. Say good-bye to everyday low prices.

This country needs to lower it's debt, more than we need this kind of reform. It will just add trillions to the debt.

Obama must be utterly destroyed, and anything he proposes must be utterly destroyed too.

This too.

Things are so much easier now that Republicans and the right do my thinking for me.

For instance, did you know that the lack of daily patriotic-music playing on the Hill makes people forget that they're Americans? I was shocked when I read that, but its true!

this is a perfect example of the ignorance we are dealing with. I say "fuck it". Let this country rot. Let's watch the GOP govern a 3rd World country because that is what our future is.

Please, explain... :)

An excellent question.

Really, you've got to hand it to the Republicans and their fellow travelers who have convinced so many people to adamantly oppose their own best interests. I do wonder, however, why so many people are so susceptible to so many blatant lies (though think that the allegedly liberal mainstream media does much to abet such lies when they give their supporters equal airtime).

Well, that's enough of a rant from me for now...maybe I'll pick this up again later.

Why do you hate The Messiah? The Chosen One? The Prince of Peace?

I'm quoting Ish's thread in jest, but at the same time, Obama has bitten off more than he can chew and now the tide is turning against him. Had he focused on the economy and long-term job creation first and foremost, he would have won additional political currency - and the country would be on a stronger financial footing - from which to pursue the reform of a healthcare system that is in desperate need of it.

In effect, I think he's a bad manager and/or has gotten bad advice.

A few of us wouldn't mind having some government assistance with health care. We don't want Obamas overly bloated plan.

What else is there to do with the economy that other people who should be doing their job correctly aren't doing? What are the people in places on high who can affect job creation sitting in their offices doing all day with themselves? Waiting for something to happen or marking time until the end of the day so they can go home with another day to go towards the paycheck?

We've had more than enough time talking about shit. The economy isn't going to get better with more and more and more time-dragging discussions. The economy isn't going to get better through neverending blogging and opining on the internet.

I don't think Obama's a bad manager. I think people in general and the people who have their fingers on the buttons just want to wait around and not do shit.

The economy isn't other people's responsibility. It's Obama's, and it should extend far beyond simply pumping billions of dollars into the money supply in the hopes of a soft landing. The Fed, in creating a low interest rate environment, has done more to shore up the economy than the Administration has.

Instead of spending billions of a year on what is clearly a bloated healthcare reform initiative, he should be spending that money on picking up where the private sector stops short in basic research and science to create new industries. He should be spending that money instead on education because those kids are the ones who will create tomorrow's industries. Hell, even Bush got the former right in allocating $17B of the stimulus package to alternative energy investments, only to have Obama pilfer away a couple of billion for a short-sighted cash-for-clunkers program that does nothing for anyone in the long-term.

You're supposed to run a deficit in a recession, and you're supposed to pay it back when you're running a surplus. Adding to the deficit that does nothing to lead to the latter when the latter is critical to getting the entire nation back on its feet smacks of piss-poor management. In the meantime, he's also pissing away his political capital to the point where we'll end up with a Democratic White House and a Republican Congress and a stalemate for the rest of his term. Net result, the country pulls itself out of this recession by its own bootstraps despite having no leader at the helm. It'll happen; it'll jsut take longer than it should.

Yes, if only he could have had a singular theoretical failure instead of a whole philosophical implosion it may have been different, he may have fooled them for at least the first four years.:D;)

Says the forgone conclusion.

Friend of mine broke his back two days ago in a motorscooter crash.

No insurance.....

He's already had probably 150,000 in care and surgeries.
