Chicago Litogether 2009

I don't think he was in any condition. I did ask a very grouchy toll-booth operator if he had been though. What a grump.

You already paid for it. That was a heavenly massage, doll.

You're a natural. You should take it up for real. :D

A lot of the toll booth attendants I've "spoken" to are grumpy...

Thanks for usage of the laptop, Mark. It's nice that I finally had a use for the hours per day of idle time I usually waste surfing useless humor sites.

Those were awesome. I loved those. I fear I'll be getting nothing done around the house after work for awhile here... :D

Anytime, the stuff you found was absolutely cracking...:D

Wow. I'm SO tired...I haven't stayed up till after 4am in a looooooong time (Thursday night's bizarre wiring notwithstanding  ). But we're busy...I think I've discovered what feels so good about some of those ways to be tied up that Gizz and I were shown last night.

Des, if you, I and the Bear could infect Washington with the respectful and open-minded way we all disagree with each other, can you imagine how much more would actually get accomplished? *shakes head*
Those really were fun (although I hope we didn't annoy the others too much). It's good to air things out with people who see it a different way (well, sometimes.....we're not THAT far apart). It helps you to self-analyze your own positions and how you came to them.

That aside, I had a blast talking with you about all things fencing, karate, women (and our general lack of understanding about them), Lit, writing, etc....

That's what most people don't get about the Lit-together....It's about how different (and interesting) someone is when you get them away from the computer and have the chance to talk face to face. Everyone's experiences are so unique.....it's a wonderful way to add flavor to your life.

Starting to catch up here...

As always, it was fantastic to see friends I've missed and great to meet some people I had been waiting to meet.

I had a wonderful time. Simply wonderful.

Wenchie, I so adore my surprise and I also adored meeting you and Nero and the Pirate. I look forward to our next meeting and my further education in knot-ology.

Kat and Gizz, the two of you are one of those "happy surprises." I hadn't spoken much with either of you before. I think you are an awesome couple and the only thing more beautiful than Gizz's photography is the eyes of his favorite subject.

I shouldn't have started this.... I want to say something about everybody now.

I think I'll let some stuff string out. Don't want to tease/share all at once.

And to those who will claim I am being mean by teasing you with glimpses... all I am doing is increasing your motivation to get to Chicago next time. I missed the last two years and I had to be satisfied with little hints, just like all of you this time.

And I was there by phone or photograph both those years. And it bought me no more info.

It was a joy meeting you. Thanks again for your insight and all you did to calm my fears.

It's a possibility. I don't normally work on guys (long story) but I'd be willing to give it a shot. The only thing will be at least a couple days off for my hands to rest. I've only given a few in the last......crap, since the last Lit-together, then did 6 hours straight yesterday (ice is my friend.... ).

We'll talk.

No worries, if your cool with it then we'll see what we can organise...

Well put, Des. :D That comment is worthy of two sticky notes. ;)

That's what I like about them. I like putting faces to the screen names and learning how people think about this, that and the other, and it helps me be far better able to understand what kinds of meanings there are behind the words they type on the screen. Like someone here says something that makes me tilt my head and go, "Um. What?" and walk away from my computer scratching my head...with the people I've spent time with now, I might still tilt my head and go, "Um. What?" But I can hear them actually saying it out loud and I might find it highly amusing even if I don't get it, or I'll feel a lot more comfortable asking them to elaborate, or whatever, than I would if I'd never met them.

And we're all unique people with our own experiences and backgrounds, but in many ways our minds all work the same way and that also makes it easier to feel comfortable around everyone. This is the second Litogether I've been to and both times I've really, really enjoyed being able to talk with anybody about anything in a room full of people and not have to worry that someone will overhear and be offended by the topic. In fact, more often what happens is someone will overhear, think, "Ooo...interesting topic over there," and join in. And nobody seems to mind that either.

It's really incredible.

It was a very brief and subdued demo... although I already have figured out how to tie that sleeve knot that was shown off so very well last night... :D Already had Kat in one for a while tonight.:cool:

I learned so much this Lit-together... I had a blast. :D
