"The Fate of the Republic."

PS - The Republic died at the turn of the last century's DemocraTIC wave of populism, now a new wave of populism strives to run the Democracy down its logical and predicted path;

Machiavelli
von Humboldt
de Tocqueville
Rand...

Use government to "get" other citizens...

The only issue left to resolve is whether we end up with a Timocracy or a Socialist Dictatorship.

How would you describe Nancy P. or Harry R.??

I dont cheer for failure but I do not see how spending the amount of money we are for all kinds of things and then trying to take away my rights as a veteran is going to make it better.

This is how you see the right. This is really not the way the right is.

I believe in choice and freedoms but I will never believe that what I work hard for should be given to someone else. Before it gets asked or indicated that I make a large sum of money...no I dont. I live simple and smart, I take care of what I have and I pass that along to my two children.

Pelosi and Reid are the majority leaders. Remember when the "right" was trying to completely negate the minority party's ability to have input on any bill they disagreed on? I sure do, and so do they.
The GOP has resorted to the exact same tactics as the minority that they railed against as the majority. I guess they weren't really all that upset about stalling legislation since the Senate GOP has spent the last two years dragging it's collective feet on every piece of legislation to come through, including those of which they approve. Hell they even voted against bills they initiated. Now they want to cry foul that they are treated exactly as they treated the Democratic party when they were in the majority. Too fucking bad.

I'm a veteran too. That idea was never going to go anywhere and was never even fully fleshed out. You know it, every dumbass who was screaming about it knew it. But it was an effective ploy to bash the President. Meaningless, but effective.

Good for you for being a responsible parent! I live much the same way and am currently supporting one child in college. Yet I don't begrudge the small contribution in taxes I make to help those less fortunate than myself who truly need it.

I can only judge the "right" by the face they present to the public. Spoiled little power mad children who claim to be the source of all things charitable but rail against any social program suggested.. I'd much rather rely on a government sponsored social program if I had to than the charity of others who use that "opportunity" to push their beliefs onto those who must endure the lectures or go hungry.

A century ago, Rand's Russia was fighting out the logical conclusion to our path...

The benevolent "Social Democrats" ;) ;) won and got even with the Bourgeoisie just like the French did; I like the part where Alexis said his dad always napped from 1500 to 1600 to skip the 1530 call to the Guillotine...

Same passion play being played out peacefully, for now...

Byron, he's giving trillions to corporations that congress is now going to manage and by God they're going to manage them no matter how much of the constitution has to be torn up to do so.

Corporations now become the political fall guys that are going to provide cover for every mis-management step congress and the administration take. A convenient way to mis-direct the ignorant from what's really taking place. One has to look no further than this flap over AIG to see the writing on the wall.
This is just beyond everything.

It can't be just him. He's obviously a tool.

The "flap" over AIG bonuses is just one one/thousandth of the money the government is giving to AIG.

I mentioned this the other day, that our attention is being diverted from the real problem; like where is the other 99.9% of the AIG money going?
$14 trillion has gone lost.

Nobody can say where it went.

These people are magicians, who can make money magically disappear.

Sorry, Americans, we have to raise your tax rates.

But hey... Obama is on Jay Leno tonight! Watch that, and you won't feel so bad.

Keep your eye on the ball.

That fight in the stands isn't important.

Military glory... Your type is always on about that. Do you really not understand that it's about voting?

Let's vote in 2010.

Feels so like 1994 to me.

If we vote; we're outnumbered!

I refuse my purple finger of approval when the unvested out-number the vested.

Give them what they want as soon as they want and get ready to pick up the pieces when they autopsy the goose for golden eggs...

Yeah, no such thing as military glory with this crowd...
There's no such thing as "military glory" ever. That's crap.

If you went in for "glory" you went in for the wrong reason.

If you went in because you had to, then you went in for the right reason.

That's what makes you a hero, and what makes the United States military the best in the world.

Don't be so sure.

That's what they said in 1994.

When people are angry, they tend to vote more.

Result was, Congress in Republican hands.

The American people can tell when they're being railroaded.

They may not know why, or by whom, but they have a 200-year-old ability to smell a snake.

Everyone I know smells one now.

We were too angry over the Clintons too early; history repeats...

Short attention span; all it will take is six months of recovery and the Democrats are off Scott-free...

First Black President.

Don't miss it.

That's his saving grace; the history and the fact that we have a clean, articulate President who can read to the people in a manner that makes them think he's talking to them.

He has plenty of time to recover; so does Congress when they "own" the press...
