June 2008, the start of the mkt crash, WHAT HAPPENED THAT MONTH?????

Clinching the nomination

Technically the nomination process for major political parties continues through June of election year. In previous cycles the candidates were effectively chosen by the end of the March primaries. However, Barack Obama did not win enough delegates to secure the nomination until June 3, after a 17-month-long campaign against Hillary Clinton. Obama had a wide lead in the number of states won, while Clinton had won majorities in several of the larger states. Because Democratic state delegate contests were decided by a form of proportional representation and popular vote numbers were close between Clinton and Obama, the contest for the nomination continued into June 2008.[33] By May, Clinton claimed a lead in the popular vote, but the Associated Press found her numbers accurate only in one close scenario.[34]

In June, after the last of the primaries had taken place, Obama secured the Democratic nomination for President, with the help of multiple super delegate endorsements. (Most of the super delegates had refused to cast their votes until the primaries were completed.)[35] He was the first African American to win the nomination of a major political party in the United States.[36] For several days, Clinton refused to concede the race, although she signaled her presidential campaign was ending in a post-primary speech on June 3 in her home state of New York.[37] She finally conceded the nomination to Obama on June 7. She pledged her full support to the presumptive nominee and vowed to do everything she could to help him get elected.[38]

I had knee surgery in June, which caused people to miss me and lose faith in... pretty much everything.

Sorry bout that.

Thats right

BAM won the nomination

SOMEONE WAS PAYING ATTENTION

THE MARKET AND ECONOMY!

the media did a great job of pretending that BAM wasnt what he was saying

he was

THE MKT LISTENED!

Notice also that every time Obama makes some sort of address the market seems to take a huge dip as well. Maybe if he stops talking the markets will go back up.

If we can just get the news and newspapers to let people know that things aren't as bad as they seem maybe they will feel better and in 3 months time we can have our markets back on track.

Problem is the new is so depressing and that is all we hear everyday.

maybe he should RESIGN

the mkt would FLY

There is ByeDumb

so he has to resign as well

Then cums PUSSYPELOSI:eek:

OK

All DUMZ resign NOW

restore the American economy!:)

The Dow's alltime high was reached on October 9, 2007.

Seriously, are you ever right about anything at all?

It actually started in December 2007, not June of 2008, moron.

You know, with all due respect to both of you, I think you may be in a little bit of denial here. You just can't believe that this is happening and you don't want to admit that yes, the correlation factor between the crash and the election exceeds 88.2%. Trust your eyes, the real fall started about mid 2008, about the time Intrade showed Obama winning, remember UD (7/08)?
I've seen references to this many, many times by the "Conservatives" of the board and wondered why they had grown so silent about them of late. I wasn't really surprised at why.

On Intrade, Obama has a 64.6% chance of winning the presidential election. McCain has a 30.2% chance of winning.

On the Iowa Political Market, Obama has a 66.5% chance of winning. McCain has a 33% chance of winning.

You are truly nuttier than squirrel shit if you believe the nomination alone is the reason for this market situation.

I understand blaming Dems and Reps who were the chairs for the finance and banking sub-committees and knew there was trouble on the horizon and did NOTHING.

But the nomination was just that, I never knew the Dow had a "Black" factor. You're out there man, take your meds.

You know it's not a race thing, that's a cop out even suggesting it. It wasn't just the nomination it was the fact he won coupled with the democrats taking the house and senate. Out of control political control. That's what the market is responding to.

You cant talk sense to these "people"

all they see is RACE!

they are in DENIAL about reality!

fact is, as soon as BAM won the nomination, the mkt cratered

after the election, Nov 4th, the decline picked up speed

and even more so since Jan and the "stim" package passed

BAM IS ANTI BIZ and PRO STIFLING BIZ

To say otherwise is IGNORANT

But yeah, its a BLACK thing:rolleyes:

DISSENT: Formerly, the “highest form of patriotism,” now the preserve of “domestic terrorist wannabes.” Boy, things sure change with an election!

UPDATE: Plus, if you don’t support Obama’s economic plan, you’re a traitor and RACIST!. Ah, for the good old Bush days, when it was wrong to question people’s patriotism. . . .

2009: Dems Outraged Radio Show Host Wants Obama's Policies to Fail. 2006:

51% of all Dems Want Bush to Fail During Peak of Iraq War.....

Poll taken August 8-9, 2006 (pdf file):

Lets see, what's worse: Rush Limbaugh wanting Obama to fail or the majority of the Democratic Party rooting for Bush to fail, along with a defeat for the US military in Iraq?.....

Democrats Have No Right To Be Snooty About Rush Not Wanting the President to Succeed- Patterico

Bill Otis picks up on the notion that wishful thinking caused some on the center-right to overlook the rather obvious radicalism of Barack Obama:

Conservatives pride themselves on having a degree of mental discipline their opponents lack, but in fact conservatives live in the same world as everyone else, and sooner or later, by sheer attrition if nothing else, are prone to the mistakes the surrounding culture relentlessly encourages. Wishful thinking is surely among them. Who doesn't want a holiday from, among a host of other things, the mullahs, the market, and the looming catastrophe in entitlement spending (a catastrophe that appeared well before Obama)? And who didn't find Obama's demeanor soothing, sensible and balanced? Wishful thinking is the sanctuary of a fatigued mind. And a lot of us are fatigued.

Obama's melody sounded safe, and enticed many, including some conservatives, to ignore the fact that the lyrics were written by Jeremiah Wright. Now that Obama has changed his tune, so to speak, the wishful thinkers can hear the words better. But now is too late.

I'm enough of a wishful thinker to deny that Obama's lyrics are those of Jeremiah Wright. But the radicalism of the lyrics is unmistakable and, apart from the reference to Wright, I agree with Bill.

It generally scares investors when that much of the Dem. party takes control, thus the sell off and so on. Weather they are right or wrong, for the most part they believe Dems in control means higher taxes, bigger gov., more gov. regulation on the private sector and so on.....that may be what the majority of investors are fearing and we all know FEAR moves the market down. Weather it's real or not.

In case you all havent noticed

since the "media" has refused to pick it up

TEA PARTY TAX PROTESTS ARE SPRINGING UP ALL OVER THE COUNTRY

of course they are all RACISTS and DOMESTIC TERRORISTS
