The 'stimulus' isn't going to work, and why.

The US's collapse will be an eerie echo of the collapse of the Soviet Union, and for some of the same reasons, among them excessive central control, gross imbalance of foreign trade, the inherent extreme inefficiency of the Socialist system, and a prolonged and unpopular war in Afghanistan.

jhuson, if Obama and Pelosi keep "fixing" things, how often are the goalposts of retirement going to have to be moved and what kind of existence are they going to be forced to adopt?

The Obamanation is now speaking in terms of decades...

And again, are they like Ollie's folks? living in a tenured world that soaks up our tax dollars at an alarming rate as we promise every child and everybody able to cross the border an education?

At what point do the unemployed youth insist that working age limits be imposed so that they have the opportunity to raise their families?

I mean, after all, as Obama says, fair IS fair, and it's going to be painful...

... and they have the promise of Social Security, FDR's "temporary" Ponzi scheme. Right???

I agree with the bailout but not the stimulus, it will do more harm to big business than good business needs to be free to conduct business where it is best for them.
The way of doing business and getting products has changed. Here in Canada we buy a lot but make little we manage.

IOW, they're becoming retirees. What of that? Retirees do not live on air. Retirees are not producers but they still play an economic-stimulus role as consumers. They draw their pensions and they spend them on the ordinary daily needs of life, plus others peculiar to retirees, such as lots and lots of medical care. They create jobs. Younger, working people pay into Social Security and private pension funds, retirees draw the money and give it back to young people, 'round and 'round -- and retirees' demands are recession-proof. And when they pass away, whatever they have left goes to their heirs.

Politicians in Florida do not much mind having lots and lots of retirees around. When they come here, they bring no social problems with them. They don't need jobs, they don't commit crimes, they don't have school-age children needing education. They just spend and live.
They become retirees for a while, then they become inmates of adult assisted living facilities hooked up to tubes, oxygen tanks, and IV drips, costing more money to keep alive in the last few years of their lives than their entire health costs up to that point.

Your president has set in motion a system where we'll have to pull the plug on them. Life expectancy will fall in the US for the first time, thanks to Democrat policies.

Not one word of support from Obama voters explaining why the package will work.
On the other hand, they're finally admitting Obama is moving us toward Socialism. They're also admitting that they want Socialism. That used to be a dirty word.

Socialism didn’t work in Russia so lets try it here in America!

Jesus H. Christ what an utter load of horse shit.

I can almost hear the collective intake of breath among "conservatives" hoping against hope that the economy won't recover so they can regain some semblance of relevance.

Here's my prediction, I've voiced it before..
The economy will recover, the stimulus will be credited even if it's only marginally responsible, and those who voted against it or abstained will be painted as obstructionist morons more invested in their own political future than the future of this country. It will cost them dearly.

Capn relax. Everything is going to be OK.

So you are of the belief that the govt. should do nothing?

Fat-assed American's life expectancy is not effected by:

fast food
sugar-laden soft drinks
enormous daily caloric in-take
couch potato lifestyles
brew swilling
tv, computer and PDA screen-obsession
lack of fruits and vegetables in diet

Stop making reasonable assumptions.

It's so uncool and does not contribute to lively, senseless banter. Plus, without one reference to "Savior O", "Cunt Pelosi" or "Socialist Propaganda" the prediction lacks spirit.

Hey I like fast food, in fact that is all I’m going to eat from today forward. Then when I get fat and ill, I’m going to bring a class action lawsuit against McDonalds. Oh yeah, I will purchase hot coffee and spill it on my self, that would earn me another 10 million.

god bless America

Don't you wingnuts tire of making the same doom-and-gloom catastrophic predictions day after day after day...? Seriously, y'all love to brand yourselves as the real Americans, the truly patriotic ones and, yet, here we are in the biggest crisis since the depression, and all you can do is spew your bitter partisan invectives.

For eight freaking years, Wall St. and big business was given carte blanche to ass-rape the rest of us, but now you bitch and whine because a new government is stepping in and attempting to right the wrongs that got us here in the first place.

You lack the standing and the credibility to criticize, oh disgruntled ones. If your boy McCain had won, we'd be continuing on the same downward spiral. Your policies have evidenced their results; now we're heading in a different direction. The majority has spoken, and your self-serving ideas have been marginalized. Instead of watching with curiousity, if not hopeful anticipation as this country undergoes a major transformative period, you condemn the leader of this change as an incompetent, a "fucking liar" without a valid birth certificate.

All you're doing is demonstrating how pathetic and simple minded you are.

So here's a simple concept that even you should be able to grasp despite your daily efforts to muddy the waters: It takes money to make money. Since big business is unlikely to pony up in order to save the economy it trashed, the government needs to. Will every initiative succeed? Probably not. But the majority rejects the alternative, and all the circle jerking in the world isn't going to change that. Deal with it.

and you think that Obama is any different?

So many people are pulled into his “rock star” status, and feel that there is this wind of change coming but are unable to see the truth. I can’t defend bush or the gop, can’t even try. Nor can I support them or try to understand what they are saying/doing. I’m sure tonight when we go out to dinner with friends the conversation will turn to politics and yes several of my friends are pro obama. Yet when the conversation comes up about the fax frauds that obama wanted in his cabinet and the tax fraud running the treasury my friends always turn the subject back to bush. They fail to see that obama is on par with the rest of the frauds. So that is why I’m bitching… :)

If he isn't, why are you bitching?

Moron.

Doesn't the left contend that we are in today's situation because people borrowed money today to fund capital projects (like building huge houses), on the assumption that they'd be able to pay it off in the future?

Why is the solution to do more of the same thing, on a massive scale, for the whole country? That is exactly what Obama is doing.

And Shugahhh, if you were about to get hit by a car, would you want me to keep my mouth shut, or warn you?

Obama is no more a "rock star" than Reagan. It's been decades since a president was embraced with enthusiasm but, rather than acknowledge the sea change in public sentiment, y'all label him thus as just one more way to denigrate the man.

Fraud is a strong assumption that attributes intent. If there is evidence of such, the perps should be prosecuted. Period. From my POV, Geitner fucked up by preparing his own return. Members of Congress who only have to worry about domestic income and write the freaking tax code can't understand it.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2006/apr/16/20060416-115955-3864r/

Perhaps an overhaul of the code is in order? It's fucking ridiculous in its complexity.

I fault Geitner for not cleaning it up fast enough. I fault Obama's team for not sufficiently vetting these people. But I'm not willing to trash the entire effort based on either case. Are you really that short-sighted?

Oh please FL Mike who doth posteth on a PORN BOARD, please enlighten us ignorant masses with the truth that only you can see.

ROTFLMAO.
