I was reading this great article in the New York Times a few days ago about the top ten American movies. I thought to myself why have we never done any top ten lists here? (Maybe we have but if so, I forget.) So this is a top ten list thread with a twist. In this thread, name your top ten favorite whatevers. It might be movies or songs or foods. It might be something more intimate like the top ten ways your lover touches you or some such. Both erotic and non-erotic lists are welcome. Be creative!

And ok, here's the twist. Once you make your list, hop over to the main forum and write a poem about it. There'll be a companion thread there. You can write about the whole list or one thing on your list, however you choose. Again, no limits as to style or form and erotic and non-erotic poems are both most welcome. Well, you don't have to write a poem; you could just make a list. But maybe the list will inspire you and this is the poetry forum. :D

Ok, I'll start and try American movies. This will not be easy for me! And my list is in no particular order, except maybe for number one.

Angie's Top Ten American Movies

1. The Godfather (the first one)
2. To Kill a Mockingbird
3. Annie Hall
4. A Hard Day's Night
5. Dog Day Afternoon
6. She's Got To Have It
7. Round Midnight
8. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
9. Dr. Strangelove
10. The Best Years of Our Lives

Oh yeah one more thing. Chat, flirt and other artistic expression are most welcome.

Champ's Top Ten Authors (living or dead)

Colleen McCullough
Ann Rice
Tom Robbins
Marion Zimmer Bradley
John Irving
Diana Gabaldon
Robin Cook
Michael Crichton
Kurt Vonnegut
Jack Whyte

I lied. The hard part is writing the poem, lol, which I'm trying to do now. I'll put the thread right up missy.

Oh, I wanted to add that over recent years I have fallen more and more in love with John Irving. He's a latter-day Dickens to me. (Most people here don't know about my Dickens obsession [Ahem, I said Dickens], but trust me it's for real. Anyway, I think A Prayer for Owen Meaney is just soaring brilliance.

LOL! So did I! I've only got nine. I'll just edit that to include another...

You know, the poem came quick and fast once I thought about where I usually enjoy ;) their books...

Ack. I didn't even start mine yet. I got hung up watching Obama's speech on the economy. And now I want to watch a few Youtube Godfather scenes to catch the mood and tone. I adore that movie. I've probably seen it more than 20 times.

I love Anne Rice, too. Sometimes she gets too preachy for me, but I think her artistic value is underrated by critics. I've read The Witching Hour (my favorite of hers) many times, and the poeticism of her prose blows me away.

Actors I wouldn't kick out of bed

1 Orlando Bloom
2 Orland ......... oops you mean different ones!!

my favorite bdsm/sex paraphernalia:

1. vibrating egg on high speed
2. my bdsm pendant
3. my work collar with its three D rings
4. medium-sized butt plug
5. nipple clamps (not the clover clamps)
6. purple flogger with 50 lashes (not the 100 lash red one)
7. riding crop with the "spanky hand" tip on it
8. all my leather cuffs: wrist, ankle, thigh
9. double-headed dildo -- any dildo!
10. the gallon of lube... oh, and my bondage chair!

What did you expect? :D Here's another list. It's my list of, um, writing poetry:

1. I write a lot of poetry while I'm curled up in Hugo's bed, with paper and pen.
2. Mostly I write in front of my computer where I can do research, if needed.
3. Love writing while drinking a hot jumbo-sized cup of green tea.
4. Nothing like writing while in a dark mood. Yeah, I like it.
5. I like coming up with poems while I'm taking my daily walks.
6. I like to write poetry when it comes like an orgasm and I can't stop it and I'm willing to write on toilet paper if I have to... lol
7. I like it when I write poetry in a pretty notebook with a nice pen (I like using my literotica pen that I got years ago during a contest  ) but I usually end up writing like an alley cat, using some dirty piece of scrap paper and writing in some poorly lit room.
8. I love to write outside, especially when it's warm, sunny, and the scenery is inspiring -- beautiful, funky, tragic, whatever.
9. I like to write to purge all the thoughts from my head and so I can sort them out.
10. And I like to write so that I can keep a record of... everything.

One of these better inspire a poem! If not, I'll list my top ten favorite scientists!

Your post made me spit coffee, damn you.

Cobras laugh?
The funny ones do!

Curled, like a coffee cobra
on Hugo's bed, I sharpen
my number-two lead fang
with his penknife.

"What's it worth?"

I tell him it's worth three poems,
unless I break it sooner.
I write four
and Hugo gets five bucks at the pawn shop.

The spirit is moving you. The poetry spirit. Who ever thought a snake would be your muse? Although a snake has inspired you before (in uh the unmentionable poem). Did I ever tell you I was born in the year of the snake?

*Gasp*

I'm a dragon. Not my breath, though.

It explains a lot. Look at this:

Dragon and Snake

This is an excellent match.

Both share similiar ambitions, strong willed and hungry for success.

The two are complementary.

The snake with the wisdom and patience, guides the proceedings and supporting the dragon from behind while the dragron enjoys being in the limelight.

Maybe we should get married after all...

Top 10 Favourite Things:

Life
Husband

sluts
the turn of a leaf in the wind
family
Christmas
art
films
Life beyond this one

Okay, now a poem. Not sure sluts and Christmas go together, but I will think about it and post. :D

I'm sure you can work up something that involves your spouse, sluts and Christmas. :p

eagleyez says he'll take the middle. That darn monkey! He's a monkey. I wonder if I should tell the monkey the eagle is really a monkey. It's too confusing, isn't it?

I'm a tiger :D

Tigers

The Tiger is said to be lucky vivid, lively and engaging. Another attribute of the Tiger is his incredible bravery, evidenced in his willingness to engage in battle or his undying courage. Maybe he’s so brave because he is so lucky. But the Chinese say having a Tiger in the house is the very best protection against the evils of fire, burglary.

Okay. I must go think about my next list for a while. Monkeys and dragons and tigers, oh my!

Of course he gets the middle. I'm not getting in bed with you unless we have at least one penis present. Okay, two. Or three. I get to wear a black dress at our wedding. Black is slimming and the holidays were fattening.

I would have brought a penis. Just not his. His penis better behave itself around you!

Oh and you know all those cookies I said I baked? We only mailed out around half of them. Oy.

Can I watch?

Only if you like comedy. :D

I need to do a top ten list of diet tips. I walked up hills today. I have to say goodbye to at least 10 pounds. My jeans are tight. I've moved into... into... sweat pants!!!

What a damn fine idea!

I'm so tangential and distracted today that I'll make a list of top ten lists.

Top Ten Lists I'm Making in my head:

1. Top ten movies you haven't seen but should.
2. Top ten favorite gemstones.
3. Top ten things I'd like to learn to cook.
4. Top ten things in that dresser that I want to use on You.
5. Top ten things I'm going to do to you the minute I get You alone.
6. Top ten endearments I'm thinking of using.
7. Top ten moments in my life so far.
8. Top ten really Stupid things I've done.
9. Top ten really Smart things I've done.
10. Top ten really Beautiful things I'd like to do.

The poems themselves will have to wait; my muse went all purple a few weeks ago and I can't get her to stop doing that thing she's doing.
