Your Advice To A New *litster*

Hi all!
I'm relatively new here (although already experienced enough to be aware of literotica's ability to eat up vast swathes of time!), so I thought I would read this thread to see if there were any kidney stones of wisdom lurking within...;)

It's made me curious about the General Board (doesn't that sound like the name of rulers in some dystopian novel? "The General Board, headed by Our Beloved Leader"?) Am I likely to experience bitchiness and pomposity there? Should I avoid it like the plague?

i have a couple of questions...i read through this thread from the beginning...so i have already followed some advice, thank you!:D

first:
--the playground people have been soooo nice!
--i have been afraid to even venture to the GB based on all of the things i have read:eek:
--i am generally impressed with the wit and brains of the people here at lit...(i really am not trying to just kiss up)
--i find it slightly amusing that i am now listed as a 'literotica guru' when i still feel so clueless sometimes (heehee)
--and i truly hope i have not committed any of the listed offenses as a newbie, but if i have, i hope you all will continue to talk to me anyway :eek:

questions:
--what is an 'alt'? i gather people are creating different id's?? what is that about? (just looking for some further info on explanation started by koala)
--i would like to post some pics...but am a bit confused about how to go about this. any advice, tips, directions...?
--is there any 'etiquette' about avatars? does it matter what you use? (self, not self...)
--can anyone give me tips about the best way to insert links in a signature? (i guess i am mainly looking for input on where people usually link 'to'...own computer, somewhere within the site, another site....)

ok. i have gotten wordy enough! sorry about all the questions...just trying to be sure i don't make too many mistakes as i feel like a newbie myself despite the new 'guru' status:D

besides...one question was about pics...and i think you also said that was required for newbies (heehee)

Pics..I have no idea.
No ettiquette for av at all. Just make sure you don't use another member's photo for yours and everything else is acceptable.
For links in sig....when you edit your sig...just click the insert link button. The window that pops up let you write the url. Put the url there. It can be a url to any site or subsection of a site on the web...but not to a location on your comp.
