McCain confirms Sarah Palin!

I repeat: with all the scandal in Alaska politics these days, what are the chances Palin is completely clean? What's the extent of her association with Tubular Ted Stevens?

There haven't been many investigative reporters in Juneau over the years. There will be now.

I don't think Hilary supporters are without thought.

Sure they are. The American voter in general is without thought. That's why we have people who follow party lines no matter what.
Many, many of her supporters were there because she's a woman and no other reason. You can deny that if you want but that doesn't make it less true. They will turn on the Dems in a heartbeat.

Nobody in this election is clean. That's why I think it's going to turn really, really nasty.

He won't keep all the republicans. There are some out there who won't cotton to the possibility of a woman in the highest office. He won't get all the Hillary supporters. Most Dem, like Repubs, wouldn't change parties if you slapped them upside the head with a brick.

If I were a bookie I'd say he will lose more than he gains and his odds just went down.

Republicans I think are more devoted to the party than Dems. They'll stick around because they wouldn't want some 'liberal marxist' in the White House.

Take a little more time in your consideration, look into her background. She's tough and she knows what she's doing.
I'm talking about my first gut reaction and basing it purely on her gender. I don't know anything about her, though the fact that she likes hunting gets some respect from me.

I don't vote for a President based on his/her VP choice because I don't assume that the President will die in office. Most don't. I also don't assume that the VP will actually hold much power or affect policy. Most don't seem to.

I think you underestimate their fear of Obama.
Perhaps.

Lord, I hope this doesn't turn into a race versus gender race but now I fear it will. Whoever loses will claim that's why they lost. Whoever wins will swear that it's based on their policies.

Ugh.

novelty has become the amorphous issue
and strangely enough,
the one that probably defines the
uncommitted voters out there...

there is a novelty to race
there is a novelty to sex

both have positives and negatives
that most people will not
speak plainly about...

tough to poll the
issues of
race/gender politics...

people lie to pollsters about them,
and then vote with their... uhhhhhh
(baser?) instincts.

Background? Beauty pageants? Yippee.

Her hubby works for BP? Great, I'm sure she'll get that gouging under wraps.

And she admits using marijuana. Great. Chong with tits could be sitting #2.

Experience? Two terms on city council, one as mayor and 19 whole months as governor. WOW. Her resume makes John Quincy Adams' look like Paris Hilton's.

Brilliant.

Excuse me for being a dense woman here, but I think your argument was delivered with a birth defect: on one hand, thoughtless Democrats/Republicans simply go by party line irrespective of the person running yet, on the other hand, they will thoughtlessly vote for a woman/Black/hero/etc. Which is it? Or are all decisions based upon a candidate's presentment "thoughtless?" Or maybe it’s that people like to “identify” with a candidate before they want to spend the time looking at his/her record?

I think you underestimate their fear of Obama.

And herein lies the only thing that mccain has going for him.

Fear.

Same thing that drove us to a war that pretty much is universally seen as a dismal failure except by a few chickenhawks on the right.

Great campaign platform.. If you're trying to become fuhrer of Germany, and the year is 1933... not such a great one for the united states in 2008.

...And she admits using marijuana. Great. Chong with tits could be sitting #2.

Alaskans are pretty laid back about that, as am I. Although I'm sure someone will ask her if she ever got high while pregnant, which will be a new twist on the familiar question.

The other big question is: has McCain managed to get a full house for the VP rollout yet? There were still seats available as of last night. I'd go myself except I'm assuming I'm on some list.

Nobody in this election is clean. That's why I think it's going to turn really, really nasty.

Eh? Obama is clean, despite that silly flap over Tony Rezko. McCain and Biden are reasonably clean for men who have spent decades in the U.S. Senate. Palin's the only one who might have some surprises in store in that regard.

Hillary must be steamed

She now cant run for 16 years

POOF go her dreams

Exactly and that's why I've been saying McCain will end up winning even before his VP pick. People talk and talk to make themselves look good but in the end they won't vote for the black guy. This is America after all.

I can't quote numbers but doesn't it seem during every election there is this huge conversation regarding swing voters and who will pull who off the fence. Then when election day comes, the same percentages vote Republican and Democrat as they always do, Perot being the only real exception. Its the same for increasing voter turn out. I remember reading that the "Rock the Vote" campaign looked to be pulling massive numbers of 18-22 years olds into voting booths in 2004. Then when election day came that demographic had a actual increase of something like 1%. So will this actually mean anything?

It's really easy to see this VP pick as pandering and hypocritical. The same can be said for Obama picking Biden though. Biden is an OLD Washington insider who has been there longer than McCain. Don't get me wrong, Obama chose a VP with years of foreign policy experience and experience in general. McCain chose...the 2 year governer of Alaska? For those of us who actually might be swayed, advantage Obama.

So lets see if I got this right

Palin=Bad no experience.........A VP

BUT

BAM= No experience GOOD ................A Pres:rolleyes:

OK!:D

I think that's what I said in February -- but caught a lot of heat for saying it.

There will be outrage when the vote tally is 180 degrees off from the exit polls.
