Anyone know any good redneck sounding last names. preferablly starting with the letter M.
I all ready got the Hickman's.

Apparently, one of the founders of an aggrandizing theory on the origins of rednecks was called McWhiney.
Since a lot of rednecks are of Scots-Irish heritage, and it begins with an M, I'm putting that one forward as a suggestion.

Well, the Hatfields and the McCoys were families in a famous mountain feud. And there was the old famous eugenic article (even though the names were made-up) about the Jukes and Kallikaks.

But you're looking for rednecks rather than hillbillies...hm. You might add German derived names, for the central Midwest, like Missouri.

Any list of initial letters you're looking for? Trying to match up a name, like "Molly McWhiney"?

P.S.: Try U.S. Civil War history for some other ideas. e.g. look up Braxton Bragg in Wikipedia or Google. Or try 'M' in the index of Civil War Generals: http://sunsite.utk.edu/civil-war/cong_m.html

Actually I was thinking of a play on the hatfields and mccoys. Hence the Hickman and an M. Thogh it dosen't have to be a M. McLaws sounds close, makes me think of inlaws. he even was in charge of defending 'though poorly' my hometown of savannah against the scorched earth campain of general sherman. Luckily the city was captured and given to lincoln as a christmas present instead of being burned.

I am just bored waiting on my story to clear customs so I can start adding to it so I am playing with some ideas in my head.

Rednecks, Hillbillies its all the same to me.

As far as first names. I am not really looking for anything in paticular. I can think of a half a dozen easily. Mandy mae, Ronnie Ray, Mary Sue, Billie jo & Bobbie Jo. the BJ sisters. ; )

While drawing on any famous name has its drawbacks, you could pick McLaury. It was Tom and Frank who ended up on the bad end of a fight with the Earp Brothers and Doc Holliday.

McCoy is the classic.

Can't think of any last names that scream redneck. Maybe something like Mayberry (ala Andy Griffith), or Moon, Moonberry, Muddleston (with the "mud" represting the dirt).

Well here is my draft for a comedy story. Still havn't decided on names yet.

The Chronicles Of Cotter County

August 17, 2020 8:15am

“Here you go Mister.” Dixie Belle Hickman said as she poured you a nice glass of ice tea as she bent over showing her more then ample cleavage in her cute little sun dress that was just short enough to show off her nice tender white thighs. You tried you best not to stare as her grand father, Ronald Raymond Hickman sat across from you carving an apple with a hunting knife. He may have been in his sixties but the size of him made you think he could still handle himself in a fight. You can only wonder how impressive of a figure he must have been in his youth.

“Thank you.” You say as you pick up the glass and take a sip. You try not to make a face as you feel like your going to go into diabetic shock from the sheer amount of sugar in the tea. Damn do these people even need to sleep or do they just drink this stuff all day.

“Howzat Sugar.” She said with a Darling little smile.

“Good, Thank you.” You say with a smile holding up the glass and nodding.

“Okay stop flirting with our guest. Go on inside now and let us men talk.” Her grand pa said smacking her on the ass as she jumped. She turned and smacked him back on the arm.

“Okay Pappy.” She said as she headed inside but not before turning back to smile at you. You where half glad you had turned down his offer to stay at they family house instead of the local motel. You couldn’t help but picture her Grandpa standing behind you with a shotgun as you said I do.

“You have a very lovely granddaughter.” You say as you take another sip of the tea flavored glass of sugar.

“Yep, Not the brightest though. I swear the wheels still turning but the hamster is dead.” You try not to laugh as he bites into a peice of apple.

“People always say they named this county after them little turtles but personally I think its cause the only two things that grow well here is cotton and women.” He said as he suddenly looked up at a truck coming down the road. After a few second when it was close enough to make out two people inside one of them popped his body out the window. A young teenage boy with a baseball bat in hand.

“Hey Ronnie Ray you old fuck.” he said as they laid into the Hickman family mail box.

“Sumabitch.” Ronnie ray yelled as he jumped up with a spryness that surprises you as he grabbed a gun from beside the front door. Though the gun was as long as he was tall.

“Oh shit drive. He’s got a cannon.” The boy with the baseball bat yelled as he pounded the door as if it where a horse trying to make it magically go faster. Ronnie dropped the hammer as you cover your ears from a sound that sounds like thunder hitting the tree next to the porch. The front end of the pickup exploded as the hood flew off. Smoke began to pour out of what remained of the engine block. Hot water shot out from the radiator like a geyser.

“You get off my farm.” Ronnie said as he pulled a revolver from the back of his overalls and began to fire in the air. The two boys bailed out of the truck.

“Run.” The boys yelled as they began to take off down the dirt road.

“Damn Cornwell’s.” He said as he walked back toward the porch.

“What the hell kind of gun is that.” You ask looking at the rifle that still had your ears ringing.

“Elephant rifle, comes in handy against pickups.” he said with a grin.

“So I can see.” You say looking at what was left of there truck. Two boys came out the front door carrying shotguns.

“better late then never. Hank. Call your brother and have him come tow this piece of shit out of my sight.” Ronnie said.

“Okay Pappy.” Hank said with a nod. Dixie stood in the doorway shaking her head at her grandfather before smiling over at you.

“Junior. Reload this for me.” He said handing him the elephant rifle.

“Okay Pappy.” He said as the boys vanished to there jobs. You had a feeling that ever boy in the family had only tried to stand up to him once in there lives if even that. He seemed to command there respect like some battle hardened sergeant on a battlefield.

“Well they done got a long run ahead of themselves. We should have some peace and quiet the rest of the day.” Ronnie Ray said as he sat back down into his rocking chair and took a gulp of his tea.

“Well you wanted to do a story on or little feud.” He said with a grin putting his tea down and picking back up his knife and apple.

“Hell its been going on so long I don’t even know where to start.” He said carving another slice of his apple. It was almost funny how he had gone from a normal guy, to a raving lunatic with a gun and back. Well as close as he could get to normal anyways. You kind of wondered how many people would actually have the balls to come ask Dixie Belle for a date. And how many who still had a pair of balls after they had.
