Give yourself a 15 minute break in the middle of it somewhere and take a walk outside. Look at the trees and flowers and concentrate on your breath. It'll be good.

here, have some........(whatever makes you smile). then have seconds.

Thank you both for your kind words.

Editted out emotional stuff.

Today will not be a good day. You should probably expect more dreary rambling once I return wednesday or so. My apologies in advance as I will likely be maudlin.

Hi All! I heard this was a pretty cool thread by someone 'in the know'!

I don't cook much myself, but I've recently hired Anthony Bourdain to do it for me. Cook, too.

Can't stay long now but I'll return if that's ok.

Bye everyone! Have a sweet sleep!

Well hello there and welcome I am Annie the English contingent and ancient with it as mixed up as they come and completely nuts but with a loving heart ... not sure what I am in charge of apart from dragging Leon in the back room and sliding round naked in olive oil with Smitty (all for charity of course!)

But then, Annie, what would the Bistro be without someone to drag Leon in the back room, and imagine how surly Smitty would be without your services. We'd need a bouncer.

And then again, there's your cleavage, which keeps all of us men up at night...

Good morning everyone!!

Yeppers Anschul, ya got me beat! Theres a number missing so I couldn't do the math, but I believe you! Good job, you!

Now. I'm in shock. I just this minute heard that Rybby died. Can someone fill me in?

He and I wrote this, and we had so much fun! We are 2 very different people, but we sure could dance.

By Boo and Me (Rybby) and the dog makes three

To Kill A Tree

"To make paper you must kill a tree.
What words could merit such a death?
Songs of love, "To be or not to be"
should steal not life, but merely breath.

Though breath is life, whose life’s more dear
poet’s word or whispering leaf?
Purpose holds a place we must revere
for all who love must too know grief.

Forest floors are thick with end design
and man makes use of what he can.
Trees and words with labor we combine
for death is not some noxious plan.

Since God loves life, but poets lie
to feed a worm a man must die."

This was a partner poem; what a wonderful dancer is the fish!

I am very sad right now.

But I'll be okay in a minute.

Yes. Yom. Mon. (I'm channeling my inner reggae rabbi.)

Spent half the thread wondering what a reggae rabbit was with visions of a Harvey cavorting round the place

Tut tut you're too busy in the kitchen with Angeline to think about those sort of shennigans now

Hey, hey, hey, never, ever too busy for cleavage...

Good day, Madam, how's your minion to day? Is it a Bob Marley day?
יום

Hello my love. :)

It actually was a Bob Marley day earlier. I ran errands and blasted a Marley cassette (no cd player in my car; no ipod but the cassette player works great). It is very hot today for here and now. In the low 90s and tres humid. Ugh. We have air conditioning in the bedroom only (and our second-floor flat gets steamy in this weather), so we've been living in the bedroom for the past two days. That's not a bad thing at all lol. Picnics in bed, watching the Red Sox together, naked ice cream slumber party ambience. Even the guitar is in here now too lol.

I have to thank the goddess for such a marvelous partner who is so my best friend as much as my lover. Even the worst experiences are somehow fun and easy when you have your best friend by your side.

Now I have to write the rain poem. And he better help!

I'm thinking chicken piccata tonight, a little rissoto with mushrooms and parm-reggiano cheese, some steamed greens with garlic.

Oh and I picked up some fresh Maine blueberries and I'm making blueberry sorbet for later. Whaddaya think bro, would almond extract work with that or no (I could do strawberry almond)? I was thinking of adding some lavender and honey to it but maybe that's too weird...

Anyway, hi Bistro. lol. Where's that lovely Annie. <Hands Annie some fresh Maine blueberries. They're the best bubbelelh.>

Wow blueberries I used to grow my own at one time altho I was never too sure what to do with them! my kitchen garden is doing well some spuds, sprouts, broccolli and runner beans. The honeysuckle over the wrought iron kitchen garden gate is running riot I have taken some pictures and will post some as soon as I take them off the camera

Sounds lovely sweet. I can't wait for us to move somewhere with a big patch of land for gardening. We both very much want to grow lots of veggies and can them and I want an herb garden.

Your tongue is blue! :p

What actually do you mean by canning them ? Is that like bottling?

here ya go - home canning and preserving. So is this "bottling" in Your Land?

In My Land, we call it "Don't You Dare Let Her Near A Pressure Cooker."

Lots going on in this thread and I missed all of yesterday. If I did my usual quote thing we'd be here all night. But the cleavage, I loved the cleavage of course.

And welcome to Boo! You'll have to let us know what sorts of comfort foods and beverages we should have around for you. And if you ever get REALLY bored, the first Bistro post gets updated regularly with silly quizzes and poem topics. And all the poetry goes on the fridge. And both Chef and Angeline have started blogs with all their fabulous recipes.

bienvenue!

As to the rest of it, in short.

and one that always brings a tear

I and I always find it a mitzvah to be here.

Strawberry-almond makes me weak in the knees. I do a strawberry-almond cheesecake to die for (recipe will come some day--it's a long one, so it'll take some time). Not quite as fond of almond and blueberries. Were you going extract or liquor? You might try lemon with blueberries--either extract or Limoncello. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

First thing I did when we agreed to buy the house in PA was to stick a raspberry and a blackberry in the ground, cover it with compost and dump a bunch of water on it. Can't wait to see if something comes up (I'm talking about the berries, Annie).

I know it's terribly trite, but this is just my drop dead favorite Marley. Makes me weep.

Just Curious. Is it possible, Mistress Bijou, that we managed to get all the way to 11:45 p.m. without at least one mention that today was his birthday?

Just curious...

Yes. We say canning here, but really the vegetables or fruits go into glass mason jars, like this:

http://ace.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pACE-957282reg.jpg

Well the bottles look the same but we called them Kilner jars when my mum used to do it but I don't think the process is the same nothing was done under pressure lol (before Homb and Smitty say anything just shushhh you!) will have to look into it my memory isn't what it was *shuffles off on zimmer frame*

A gemini?

go figure. I'm always kinda hot for them. In a neurotic sorta way.

bj

I have been married to two Geminis both called Ron, both one of twins, both with an Irish mother (though not at the same time Bijou lol) the first one never went anywhere and was repressed as to be flat (chain your wife to the kitchen sink type) and the second one is the life and soul of the party ... opposite sides of the twin I guess at least I never said the wrong name in bed

What is it they say about doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results?

What is it they say about doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results?

I don't know never heard it before and wasn't till I thought about it later AFTER I had fallen in love that I realised that two entirely different men had come out of what on paper sounds like the same beginnings *goes off in a huff pushing zimmer frame*

I'll be done with this one in a moment, then let's all eat cake!

LOL!

Boo, allow me to introduce Shankara.

And yes, that cake looks fabulous. I'll have a piece, just as soon as Shankara gets done destroying his lingerie.

It's like that here. welcome.

bj

eta that is a stellar cake, by the way.

Dibs on the smokestack!

Iced tea anyone? I just made a batch. I have regular, mint and blueberry and lots of freshly cracked (like me) ice. Long Island iced tea, anyone?
