I'm travelling a lot, so got an internet-anywhere network card. It's liberating. The money I save by not paying those obnoxious $10/day hotel fees covers the cost difference. (The more expensive the hotel the more likely they make you pay. I always [used to] complain: "Why not charge me for a towel? It's just as essential." )
